A MANGLED mass of shopping trolleys are littering a Seacombe beach.

The glistening glow on the waterfront is the rotting wire of submerged Kwik Save trolleys that seem to be breeding on the sand.

Beach user Ann Michelle Ruddock from Wallasey said: "When I went for a walk along the beach in Seacombe, drawn by the still low tide and tranquillity of the view, I forgot for a moment where I was.

"That was until I counted 15 Kwik Save shopping trolleys during my five minute walk."

"Dog walkers fear for their pets' safety as the trolleys sink until they're hidden traps that could break a dog's legs - and they could easily become death traps for children out paddling."

"I can't understand the mentality of the people who do it, but if they're going to be so irresponsible it needs to be stopped at source. If most of these trolleys are coming from Kwik Save, then Kwik Save should make sure that they aren't taken off premises in the first place, or get out there and retrieve them instead of leaving council tax payers to foot the bill."

"However, we would urge the public to respect the beautiful and stunning coastline that we are so proud of."

A Kwik Save spokesman said: "Kwik Save was unaware of the problem of trolleys littering the beach in Seacombe.

Such a shame, but as I read in the Daily Post, at least there has been a multi-million pound regeneration project agreed between Neptune Developments and Peach Developments to redevelop Woodside and Hamilton Square to help benifit the Wirral towards Liverpool's Capital of Culture 2008

I think I also read that there are other regeneration projects happening along the Wirral waterfront Liverpool bound, such as New Brighton.

Aye I never go to Bhead for nightlife, firstly cos the only time ive ever been it was shite compared to Lpool and secondly cos its like scally central, so much trouble happens.

Even the bouncers look "rough and ready" whereas in Liverpool they are very respectable looking and decent guys to talk to for the most part.

Me too.

I would never go out in Bhead as matty said, cas its like scally central, so much trouble happens.

Liverpool is a far better night out and everyone in the clubs are sound. Never experienced any trouble there.

All that money on Birkenhead park and the water
is disgusting. And there was so many shopping bags and rubbish
in the water, just a shame.

No amount of money will ever change the way the birkenhead scallies see life though - they got no respect for anyone or anything, including themselves. \:\(

Gutted. I thought they had CCTV and more park rangers now?

Such a shame after they drained the lakes too.

Aint been in since it's all been done up....even though I live likes 30 secs walk from the upper park (i think...get confused between the two)

Gunna have to go see one day soon.

Anyone know if the visitor centre is complete?
