Posted By: Clive Re: Adsa job - 1st Dec 2011 11:53am
I was thinking something alomg the lines of:

Because I know that Asda are a very successful company and that career progression is a real possibility. Asda are the leaders in a competitive market and provide good value for millions of people on a weekly basis.

This is the kind of company I would like to work for.

What do you think?

A interview at Asda:
Started 2pm

9 people turned up, we where taken to a room split in to two's, with the odd one pairing up with a member of Asda staff.

We had to interview our partner we where teamed up with, to find out a bit more about them, then we had to stand up one by one to read out all the info we had found out about our partner to the rest of the group and asda staff.

then we went for a tour around the asda store, ware house etc etc etc.

Then back to the room, where we where divided into groups of 3's, and we where given a bag of marshmellows, and packet of spagetti, and told to buid a structure from it, and when we had all finished we then had to describe what we had built and try to sell it to the Asda staff. (please dont ask what my team built)

Next:
We went in to groups of 3's and went on shop floor, and had to rotate stock on shelfs and move items to the front of displays, and where each given a task to go and find 3 items we where told and write down in our note books what isle items where on, and had to ask customers if they wanted any help.

Then back to room, to fill out forms on availability times.

Then we where told there was not enough managers available to interview us all, so 3 where interviewed today, and 6 of us go back tomorrow, we where all told if we get selected, we WILL HAVE TO work Xmas eve, and boxing day, all so if we where selected to work for them we would start this Saturday.

Finished at 5pm

A 75 mile round trip, and I have to go back tomorrow.

Willo - if you're signing on can you get help towards milage? See if you can find out before you go so you get get something signed while you're up there if you need to.
Best of luck for tomorrow.

This is known as the Asda 'Magic Day' interview... mine was building a tower out of balloons and selling it to them... it has nothing to do with the project in question but how you behave in the session.

Good luck for tomorrow again Willo. Go on tell us what you built!

good luck with this willo were all behind you smile
Posted By: GrandMasterFlash Re: Adsa job - 1st Dec 2011 8:31pm
Yeah when I went we had to build a tower out of ballons and sell it, the balloons had 'fair trade' and stuff written on so we had to use that too tease
And same thing happened to me, there weren't enough interviewers so we had to back a few weeks later.
Best of luck!

Good luck my Daughter works for Asda they look after you very well !
Posted By: Nomad Re: Adsa job - 1st Dec 2011 9:01pm
I used the marsh mellows to represent atoms and the spagetti to represent the chemical bonds, then built a complex acid model out of it.

Did not get the job when I told them it was the model of LSD -

no idea why?

Is THAT the sort of test they have you doing just to work in a supermarket?

Reminiscent of the "lego house" I had to build when I attended an assessment centre held by a certain major dept store in Liverpool. Utterly ridiculous!

Nah they just sat you in the kids' waiting room.
Posted By: Jobneeded67 Re: Adsa job - 15th Dec 2011 12:33am
I second that - lol!

Why do these retail companies use such recruitment processes to assess applicants' suitability for a job? Whatever happened to the good old days when you just had the conventional interview with the store manager?
Posted By: Jobneeded67 Re: Adsa job - 15th Dec 2011 12:36am
What, to build a lego or spaghetti house (lol, lol)??
Posted By: Fireblade Re: Adsa job - 25th Jan 2012 4:41pm
