Once again WIrral Council, show their total disrepect towards War Memorials within Wirral. The latest is the moving of the Memorial in Moreton, with the closure of Moreton British Legion. They seem to consider placing the Memorial on a busy road junction at Pasture Road, Maryland Lane suitable.

The postion for the Memorial must be outside of Moreton Library, the only reason for not using outside of the library can be they forsee problems if and when they close the library and wish to dispose of the site.

The total lack of any consultation on this and the silence of the six Moreton Councillors, who are normally quite vocal requires detailed explanation of the events leading up to the decision.

While the Council is duty bound by act of parliament to maintain War Memorials, they should remember they do not own them as with many nationally, the Moreton Memorial was paid for by public subscription.
Is this the best WBC can do, I hope not, lets hope they see sense before they have to cancel Remembrance Sunday in Moreton due to the Memorial being on a road junction for health and safety reasons.

It should be up to the residents of Moreton where the War Memorial is placed. Why weren't we asked ? Why did they move it now when Remembrance Sunday is only a few weeks away

Any Comments from Cllr Blakely? He is usually up on these things. Perhaps he was more interested in agreeing to the destruction of healthy trees due to inadequate pavement surfaces?
