I can't find the planning application to share, but there are proposals to knock down and build a Waitrose store on the land currently occupied by Heswall library, the fire station, and the nearby bowling green.
I did a quick Google and it said that they'd planned this in 2010.
There's info on this site but its not dated:
http://www.theheswallsociety.org.uk/waitrose-proposals.htmlThere's nothing on the Wirral Planning Applications site as far as I can see.
Well, they are planning to close heswall fire station and merge it with west Kirby's one at a new location in greasby, so the site may become available soon
I am hearing more and more people talking about this. Who do we need to contact to get an OFFICIAL answer? If it is planned, then I'd hope to see a petition started. We've enough shops for now, the bowling green offers a nice chillout area.
A bit behind... I've just read that Waitrose are no longer interested;
"Waitrose have now made it clear that they have no plans to redevelop the "fire station site"; they were approached by the developer (as other parties may have been) but do not believe the site is suitable. They state that this is not something they wish to pursue."
