Hi All,

I'm part of a group submitting a bid for £500 of Love Wirral funding to clean up the historic St Patrick's Well in Bromborough and add the first interpretation board on this really important site. If you're in Wirral and love history, please click on the link below and vote for our project which is in the Wirral South category!

Thanks guys!

Do you have any info on the Well please? Would be interesting to hear a little about it's history and why it's important for people to get behind this...

It's located in Brotherton Park, at the start of the Dibbinsdale nature reserve. It's a "dropping well" - a cleft in the rock where the water drips down into a hollow below. It is reputed to have been blessed by St Patrick when on his mission to Ireland in the 5th century, and to have been bestowed with healing powers as a result. It's a beautiful peaceful spot with a lovely atmosphere about it.

thanks all. Not sure on the jesus stuff, but it was an important source of water for the village of bromborough for hundreds of years. The st Patrick legends aren't confirmed but are lovely stories related to the site!

Please don't try out the healing waters bit by drinking it, these days it's unfit to drink due to contamination from the road above. Despite the close vicinity of a major main road I have to agree with Cobby above 'It's a beautiful peaceful spot with a lovely atmosphere about it'. Great place to sit and contemplate for a few minutes.
