This is just to inform all dog walkers in and around Victoria Park, Rock Ferry, about a potential hazard.

There is a dog which frequents this park which has been involved in unprovoked attacks on other dogs.

It is a male dog, white with pale fawn patches. It looks like an American Bulldog. The owner is a young blonde woman who regularly walks it off the lead.

It was loose in the park and attacked a german shepherd that was being walked on a lead a week or so ago, it just charged up no warning no growling just started attacking. By all accounts it looked like it was bounding up to play as dogs do, but it started biting instead.

I have heard it also went for a jack russell outside the school on Well Lane recently, but the owner picked up her dog and held it up in the air at arms length while the bulldog was jumping up and snapping at it, so no physical damage ensued.

So all dog walkers please be on your guard.

Just to add to the above, I've just spoken to my OH who saw the dog attack, and he says now he comes to think of it he's not sure whether it is male or female, and although it looks like an American Bulldog, he says it is slightly smaller than other American Bulldogs he has seen, and has heard it being referred to as an 'Old Time Bulldog'. It is much bigger than a staffie though. The colour like I said is white with pale fawn splotches.
Posted By: DeanoBirko Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 2:47pm
What did the owner look like? Super skinny blonde?
Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 3:02pm
OH says yes, and that she has a band tattoo around her leg.
Posted By: DeanoBirko Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 3:37pm
Is it a large brown staffie? Quite fat?
Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 3:53pm
No defo not a staffie.
Like I said in the first post it's much bigger than a staffie. And defo not dark brown.

It is white with very very pale fawn, almost golden coloured, blotches. The blotches are all over its body. I think the proper name for the blotch colour might be 'lemon'.

I know of a dark brown staffie though (called Ollie, apparently) which attacked a greyhound in Victoria Park a few weeks back, the owner of that staffie also hit the greyhound's owner over the head with the lead, I believe, but that was a different dog.

Ooer I don't want to put people off going to Viccy Park though!
Most of the dogs there and their people are lovely.

If it can do that to a dog what about a child?
Posted By: Alonso Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 4:40pm
I dunno if informing them would be of any use, but why not give the Wirral Community wardens a phone call, and advise them of the information you have mentioned in your posts. I do see them about in their vans so they might be able to keep an eye out for it when they are patrolling in that area. As somebody says, it could be a child it attacks.
Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 4:56pm
Yes that's a good idea, thanks. I understand the police were informed on the day of the attack, with a full description of dog and owner given.

The maddest thing is someone pointed out to the girl that she should put the dog on a lead just after it attacked, and she said, apparently, 'I don't see why I should'.... duh..

If she knows its behaviour then it should at least be on a lead, or muzzled.

Posted By: Heswall1958 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 5:36pm
It sounds like she should be on a lead and muzzled as well!

I had an encounter with this dog a couple of weeks ago,it tried to hump my dog who isn't in season.I always avoid her when she's in the park but she came running up behind me.My dog is always on the lead,so I've got Misty on practically strung up while her dog is jumping all over her.I ended up with bruises down my legs & it took a few minutes for Misty to recover. One of the gardeners asked if it had attacked I said no but she has been told to keep it on a lead as its knocked a child off its bike & the Jack Russel incident, but I've seen it taking footballs & takes no notice of dumb blonde who is more interested in the keep fit stuff than controlling her dog.not surprised the dog is out of control as it only seems to get a few minutes excersice when she's not on the keep fit stuff.

The dog is a staffie x it was out yesterday on a lead then she let it off right by my dog but he ignored her & went for the man cutting the grass

yes the man was one of the park gardeners,it was a sit on mower think the child was shaken. The dog is a nuisance the girl has no control over it,it took her a while to get it off my dog we were okay apart from me getting bruises were my dog had her paws up as I was trying to keep her from biting it

Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 10th Jul 2013 11:49pm
Thanks starakita.

The owner must be really really dense. Obviously she can't see that her dog runs the risk of causing another dog or, heaven forbid, a child or yes an adult, serious injury, either directly (...or indirectly - Viccy Park - no railings, opens straight on to busy main roads...)

It's so simple to put a dog on a lead... words fail me...

Posted By: starakita Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 11th Jul 2013 12:05am
Se has been told to keep it on a lead, saw it a few months ago hadn't seen it before but it was annoying another staffie x & it wouldn't take any notice of her hence avoiding them if they are in same time as me.She did apologise to me when she managed to get her dog off mine, but I was more concerned with mine.a couple of women came over & the gardener to see if we were ok which we were.

Not that I condone animal cruelty, but if it were to come up to me to rough me up I'd find the largest blunt object I could and beat the you-know-what out of it. And then maybe go after it's owner too.

Carry a jif lemmon filled with bleach mixed with a bit of water and when dumb blondes dog comes bothering you squirt it in the face see what dumb blond does then

Yes thats another option.it should be reported also.
Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 12th Jul 2013 3:53pm
It looks like a american bulldog, but is slightly smaller than most I've seen, and is bigger than a staffie.
(Next time I see it I'll take a picture for you edd ;))
Maybe it's a cross between between the two breeds??
If the silly moo who walked it kept it under control, ie on a lead, and muzzled while off the lead, it would not be such a danger.
And yes some obedience training/socialisation would not go amiss... for the stupid owner as well as the dog.
Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 12th Jul 2013 4:03pm
But then if it's charging up to hump other dogs, and knocking tots off bikes then it shouldn't be off the lead at all.

Think i came across this today 19:00 it ran up took my sons football and chewed it to bits. The owner blonde (long at the back). She could not get the dog to give up the ball and her only response was "i will have to get you a new one" she said this as soon as the dog took it, the dog ran up the other end of the park. The ball was ruined when she finally retrieved it then carried on her way with her dog still unleashed ....

This is not going to end good i fear. The dog does what it wants. never good with a dog that can easily overpower a human.

I've seen it do that it's the same dog & girl no control & the dog should be on a lead, that's why I stay away from her I always go the other way when I see her apart from the day she came running up behind me

You should not have to do that Starakita.

As for you Rover, you should of grabbed her mobile phone, smashed it on the floor hard and said "I will have to get you a new one". smile

Just a quick note (apologies if slightly off-topic)...

If anyone has read Rover's comments and blushed with shame because they too own a dog that is a Wirral Ball Thief (not uncommon), then here's a tip: get your dog say a tennis ball of their own to play with, and make sure you keep it with you on your walks.

Then if your dog nicks a ball off another dog or from kids playing, make a big show of how You have His/Her ball - maybe chuck it in the air and catch it - calling their name - and if this fails to make your dog run back to you, chuck the ball just a little way for them to chase - but not so far away that you can't pick it up again first... they will normally drop the ball they have pinched so that no-one else can get Their Precious Ball...

Of course I am in no way trivialising the actions of Dumboblondie's dog, he is out there in a league of his own and a Bad Hat for sure, and I'm not pretending to know anything more than b*gger all about dog training, it's just a tip another dog owner gave us way back when our one of our dogs was the Wirral Ball Thief Champion, and it certainly worked with him.

Yes starakita sadly he is a Bad 'un.

Our boy was little more than a puppy at the time, and it was a behaviour he tried for size and grew out of.

My dog was a handful when I got her,she was in the kennels for 6 months so she was quite excitable but she is a lot calmer now.I couldn't go near other dogs at first but she's mostly ok with them now but she's always on a lead, she only gets off when were on the beach & its quiet & walking over the dips.wish dumb blond would get her dog trained it would make life more pleasant for other park users

seen the lady with the dog yesterday evening about 7pm with a young boy. She had the dog on the lead although the dog was walking her not other way round and she kept slapping it's nose :9 Also she let it approach other dogs and just yanked the lead back every now and then.
Posted By: Tess65 Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 17th Jul 2013 1:35pm
Hi Katryn, thanks for the update.
Oh well at least he was on a lead when you saw him.
(As for slapping him on the nose??!.... I'm lost for words....!)

(If I see her I'll tell her to get a 'Gentle Leader' harness, which worked great for one of my dogs, who was a pulling-on-the-lead champion, but then my boy is part husky...)
Posted By: starakita Re: Dog attack in Victoria Park - 11th Sep 2013 1:38pm
Just a warning this dog is still on the loose with its dumb owner.I saw it yesterday & again today,I still avoid it but it attacked a springer spaniel that was on a lead.As usual she was using the exercise equipment while the dog is doing as it pleases. After the attack she put the dog on the lead & went off.I did see her one time with a young boy & that time the dog was on the lead. Its no wonder I've spent most of the summer down on the beach.

the owner just whistles at the dog & it still takes no notice, she's too busy thinking about how super fit she looks with her fake tan & blonde hair.If she must excersise why can't she leave the dog at home, one good thing someone said she got fined £50 for not picking up after it,she weren't too happy.

Makes you wonder why have the dog?i can see the dog with a unhappy ending. Its not the dogs fault. Its the owner, for example today driving home from work 3 hoodies and 1 staff. The dog looked more powerfull than the guys who was taking it a walk. The dog didnt listen to its commands. It makes you wonder,Is this poor dog a pet or just a macho thing.

So you would prefer your kid to mauled or your dog.and not kick the dog in question to attack the ones you care about.I think you should read back mate.Stop trolling for a reaction. If we voted for a dog who is out of control i think i would put there kids and pets first.its the owners fault its true.

Never mind.....

So....pfft, pfft.... this owner and dog are well known about the area- so what are we wiki peeps going to do?

Anybody photograph her and report her? Jot down dates, times, incidences. Basically, collate evidence.
Why should this woman rule the park??

I know it's been a while & dumb blonde hasn't been excercising all winter but I don't think this dog had a happy ending.I've been told it came in the park on it's own the gardeners saw it & said they'd had enough of it.They got it in the compound called the police & they took it away so its obviously gone to the kennel in the sky but be warned she's back out & got herself another all white female which is bigger than the last one & it doesn't like small dogs.I spend more time at the beach these days less hassle.
