Some schools have decided to close tomorrow due to the severe weather warnings. Maybe people could add to the list to help others who may not know.

1. South Wirral, Eastham (with the exception of A-level exams.)

Time for all us oldies to come on and say how we trudged through 14 foot of snow for 10 miles to get to school and all the teachers were there as well.Never a thought of closing schools.

Well said Salmon, we are living in a country of wimps. I cant see it being that bad that they need to close schools. Its just an excuse by the teachers to have a day off.

that's ridiculous, announcing school closures already

for all they know, it might not be as bad as its forecast to be

it all the h&s crap

kid goes to school in snow so shoes are wet, said kid throws snowball at mate, so then mate runs after the 1st kid, the 1st kid slips and bangs knees goes home and mum/dad asks how you do that kid says the hall was wet, so mum/dad put in a claim.

it's a sad world we live in.

it's to let people know it may be shut so they can let work know or they can get someone to look after kids if they work. smile

From Wirral Council website

School Closures in severe weather
During cold spells, local schools are often unable to open either because the conditions are too dangerous for pupils or staff to make the journey in (weve no money to grit roads), or because the weather has caused heating systems to fail.(weve no money to maintain heating systems)

Where possible, the schools themselves inform parents directly if the school is forced to close. Often, however, the decision to close is taken at short notice. In these circumstances, school closures will be announced on local radio stations and will also be published on this website. Schools will also post a notice on their own websites, if they have one.

If you have any doubt as to whether your child’s school is open or closed on a particular day, please refer to one of these sources.

Same in USA, Wench. They close the schools if there's a threat of snow and on occasion I've known them close early because of wind too. It's ridiculous.

exactly this.

it's not the weather that causes havoc, more the news agencies that sensationalise complete none events, Sky news are the worst for doing this. everything goes on that stupid yellow breaking news reel at the bottom of the screen. breaking news this, breaking news that, utter crap.

why do they have to constantly report on the goings on in america, does anybody really care? i know i don't.

when it come to the general election is there a news channel over there dedicated to reporting on who has won the seat for wirral west etc?

sky sources is another thing that p!55es me off.........who the f*** are these people. I'll tell you who they are.....the people sky blame when they report on an event that never happens. just like the weathermen/women blame the wind when their forecasts are wrong for every day of the year.

sorry about the rant, i just can't stand the idiots at sky.

regards

dave (sky customer) grin

I pity the parents who don't know if their school is closed (no internet etc) and trudge to school to find it closed and then have to trudge home.
Also those that pay to go by bus or school bus unless the school buses don't turn up anyway

Its even worse when you work and don't know if they are closing the school or not.

My school was open all day, however by 3.15pm approx half of the children had been collected with parents asking why we hadn't closed early. Damned if you do, damned if you don't.
