I'm in need of having to have my BT socket moved. It's my master socket. Don't want to go through BT as this will be too expensive. If anyone knows anyone, I'd appreciate it

Does it have to be moved or would an extension cable do the job?

Yes, I'm having a log burner fitted in my kitchen. Which is where my master socket is

Is it a box screwed to the wall or embedded in it?

If you can use a screwdriver, it is an easy job to do yourself. Unscrew the two screws on the front and the front panel will come off revealing two screws that hold the box on the wall. Undo those and the box will come away. You can then pull the wire from the retaining clips and relocate the box where you want it. If you locate it close to where the wire comes into the house, you will have to shorten the wire but with luck you may be able to find a place where that is unnecessary, You will have to re clip the wire to the wall/skirting board but that is easily done with clips available from places like Wickes.
