Hi! everyone.

I am sure amongst you knowledgable people of Wirral there will be many who can answer my question.

Several years ago I visited HMS Plymouth at the Historic Warships Museum on the Wallasey / Birkenhead docks, it was well worth a visit. HMS Plymouth now seems to be almost derelict, abandoned, and berthed in docks visable from the Tower Quays. Can anyone please tell me what is her fate ? Many Thanks

Heard rumors from ship having no hull cathodic protection and hull requiring drydock to ship still being owned by the Royal Navy, will ask tomorrow from someone who may know a bit more.

Fascinating review and super pics. You say you have had a couple of trips to see HMS Plymouth, can one just go to the dock and go aboard her or do you need permission. I would love to go aboard the ship especially as I am ex Royal Navy. Thanks for your reply

Its getting towed away tonight apparently to be scrapped. The folks on the duke of Lancaster appreciation group are trying to organise a protest on the bridge to stop it.

Is anyone going down to keep lookout

According to the dolas Facebook page, there is a problem that may mean it does not go tonight. Apparently the river pilot is refusing to move it due to a lack of tugs.

Just been down tug boat front and back of it and a big crane above it

Ais had the Smit Sandon a local tug towards Duke st but she has disappeared off AIS the last time I looked, the other tug is a Maltese registered tug, called Amber II and is still tied up, high tide is about 3am, emailed a friend who says no certificates of removal have been given HMS Plymouth that he knows about, he seems to think the only removal is downwards as the batteries for the anodes failed about 5 years ago and the ship would need drydocking to check if it the plates would stand the travel, me I've no idea.

Plymouth is leaveing around 2.30 just seen it on twitter

Nothing is showing on Ais where HMS Plymouth is that hasn't been there since yesterday, nothing is showing in Liverpool bay or the Irish sea, I haven't been down to the docks so unless they have switched off the Ais then nothings changed for now, high water was at 3pm.

Its still there in the docks same place just been past
Posted By: mikroc Re: HMS Plymouth - 16th Aug 2014 4:41pm
Next high water 4 am If not then could go in to next weeks dues to expected weather conditions police are involved as peel ports do not own hms Plymouth as this is theft in action

I understand that the winds of up to 50mph expected
tomorrow are the reason for the delay.
Posted By: mikroc Re: HMS Plymouth - 16th Aug 2014 6:07pm
Ye the wind is main reason so could not be moving till Monday tuesday
