Got a guy on the roof at the moment fixing some tiles that came off with the recent gales we've had. He was hired by my Mum after he cold-called at the house offering his services. idiot

He wasn't here 10 minutes, when he starts telling my Mum how "unsafe the chimney stack is", and how he can fix it £580! (A bit of a jump from the £150 job he was hired for! mad ) And my poor Mum was talked into it! smack

Thankfully, my Dad came home before he could start work on the chimney and brought the additions to a screeching halt, so he's only doing, (and probably botching), the job he was hired for.

This is not going to end well! cry So in preparation for the inevitable cock-up, can anyone here recommend a good roofer please? help

150 quid for a couple of tiles? No offence to anyone but I would never employ anyone who didn't have a landline.

As a sole trader who would you expect to take my calls on a landline when i'm out working, do I hire someone I do have a landline and answer machine but I have lost count of the number of times people hangup / no message / do not leave number if you have a problem the job goes to he who responds generally on a mobile.
