Jungle drums from elsewhere say 2 children knocked down. I hope they're ok if that is what happened.

i didnt see any ambulances or any sign of any ambulances or any 'people injuries'

this is the view from before the Floral Pavillion

this is one from outside the Floral Pavillion

this 4X4 seems to be the centre of attention

didn't know what happened here, but there's a police car with it's bonnet up.
[Linked Image]

more police activity around the car, no idea who the pedestrians were but seconds before the picture they were all examining the front nearside wheel arch of the silver 4X4

also again, not sure if the brown cushion that you can see on the floor to the left of the 4X4 is of any significance... but looks odd being there.

sorry about the crap pictures, they were taken on my iphone4 but was a bit cold so was trying to keep my hands warm so was a bit shakey

Apparently they are both at alder hey, also on the picture of the car you can see an officer taking measurement of the road, probable trying to figure out the speed of the car

I was at New Brighton today and a young boy about 6 & his sister who was not much older had ran out infront of a car and been hit. The boy had hit his head and badly damaged his leg and the girl was put in a neck brace. The boys mum picked the boy up to take him in the ambulance & he passed out. There was 2 ambulances and a paramedic in a Responce car came after. They were there for about 30mins focusing more on the boy who looked like he had lost quite a lot of blood. A doctor was also at the scene. There where 4 police cars. 2 police cars escorted the ambulance that had the boy in at the front and 2 at the back. They drove off with the sirens on and the second ambulance followed. It's believed they where taken to Alder Hay Hospital. Hope they are okay.

A six-year-old boy suffered serious head injuries when he and his sister were struck by a 4x4 car in New Brighton on Sunday afternoon.

The boy and his eight-year-old sister were crossing the road at Marine Promenade in the direction of the shops from Fort Perch Rock when the accident occured at 2pm.

The 65-year-old driver of the silver BMW X-Trail 4X4 involved stopped at the scene and has been helping officers with enquiries. A routine breath test was carried out and the result was negative.

Both children were treated at scene by paramedics before being taken by ambulance under police escort to Alder Hey Children's Hospital.

The boy has a serious head injury and a serious fracture to his leg and is described as critical at this time.

His sister has a fracture to her left leg and her condition is described as serious but not life-threatening.

Their mother, who was with them at the time of the incident, is with them at hospital.

Part of Marine Promenade was closed off to allow investigation work and traffic officers are appealing for motorists and pedestrians who were in the area to contact them if they witnessed what happened.

Call the police investigation team on 0151 777 5444 or leave information anonymously with Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
