Hi all, i'm a new user to the site but would like to introduce myself and ask a few questions.

I came across the site doing some research about all of the underground tunnels that have cropped up on the Wirral. I know a lot of you like to go exploring and know of many landmarks and derelict buildings etc.

My name is Jack Brown and I currently run an underground dance music event as part of a team @ Revolver (aka Hotel California) in Birkenhead. We're all DJs who run the night to have the chance to showcase our talents to a local crowd. In the past year we've seen the night grow from strength to strength and we currently get 250+ people in attendance each event and the atmosphere is quite incredible. Surprisingly for Birkenhead, we've managed to filter out all of the morons in the area and attract a crowd who attend soley for the music and to enjoy themselves. We've built up a bit of a rapport and our reputation as a brand and as DJs/Artists has started to build.

The venue we currently use - "Revovler" has a lot of character which suits the image of our event. During the summer there is an outdoor terrace which we use which is quite stunning when the weather is nice.

Our problem now, with winter approaching, is finding somewhere in-doors that would be equally as impressive. We recently made some enquiries for some venues but haven't got anywhere and seem to have hit a brick wall. We're looking for somewhere with possibly a bit of history and a lot of character.

We're thinking along the lines of:-
tunnels, old railway stations, warehouses, basements, possibly even a church or cathedral.

Something totally out of the ordinary that would be a great experience for our regulars.

I've lived on the Wirral all my life but can't seem to come up with any more ideas. We did have one particular venue in mind but doesn't seem like it will be possible at the moment.

I know there will be many of you on this website who will know the area better than I do so any help on this matter would be hugely appreciated.

Any Suggestions?

Thanks

Jack
How about The Creep, the old nightclub under the fair in New Brighton. I know there was some talk of re-opening it a while ago but not sure if anything happened. Obviously it used to be a club so all the electrics and everything should still be there. Lots of history and character.

thanks for the suggestion, really appreciated.

we've already enquired about the creep, thats one i really had my heart set on. unfortunately we were told it will need £50,000 worth of work done to it before it can re-open as a club/bar. I think the owner is looking for a company willing to invest long term.

bit gutted as this would have suited us down to the ground.

the search continues

Shame about the creep, it would have been ideal. What about the old Stairways or whatever it's called now?

try the fort, can't for the life of me think of his name!!

I used to be resident DJ there when it was club Zu years ago. Not really the right sort of venue we're looking because of the location but again, thanks for the suggestion. With 'Revolver' its good because its slightly out of the way and the regular crowd down there are decent people.

Near the main part of Birkenhead i think it would be much harder for us to keep the idiots out, seems to be loads of fights in that area on weekends. We have a really good crowd of people at our night and a great atmosphere. I think we'd put all that at risk doing something near there.

The venue we're looking for doesn't necessarily have to have a working bar or sound system. We can add all of that to it and potentially apply for a temporary bar license. We also hire a top of the range funktion one sound system so it doesn't have speakers installed either.

We're looking for something really unique and quirky but maybe with a bit of history to go with it.

Thanks for the suggestion though, much appreciated.

We've already had the fort in mind in the past. We were thinking of doing some summer parties there but chose Revolver instead so we didn't have to hire a marquee. The main problem with the fort is that it's all open air. The main reason we want to change venue is because it's going to be autumn/winter and pretty cold.

thanks for the feedback though mate
