I have a shared drive (me and neighbour) are fed up of people parking the opposite side to the lowered kirb which leaves us blocked in or takes 4-5 turns to get out drive. By the by i have emailed streetscene and they rang me 3weeks later to say there is nothing they can do unless they park on the lowered curb which a parking attended can give them a ticket and the only other option is to phone the police due to obstruction.(very helpful NOT)
By the time I phone the police they proberly would not treat it as urgent which i would not expect them to come straight away.

Can anyone help with this situation as this has made me and my partner late for work several times?

Try leaving them a polite note explaining the situation and asking them not to park there----------------and to stop it blowing away in the wind fix it to the bonnet with a six inch nail grin smirk

Have you tried reversing into your drive, makes it much easier to get out if cars are parked opposite.Strictly speaking legally we are meant to always reverse from the minor road to the major raod and a driveveway is considerd to be the minor road.We often have cars parked opposite us and that's why I always try to reverse into our drive although we do have room to trun the car round on the drive if neeeds be.

next door have left notes on cars but that many people do it and repeat doing it ignoring notes or even using there brain to this hey they might struggle to get in and out they drive.

Thanks Salmon, we do reverse in but still struggle to get out as it is a narrow street, admittedly my partner isnt the best at reversing and struggles to reverse in to drive:)

A work friend of mine had his car towed away for slighly obstructing a drive way.
£180 to recovery his car. He never over parked again.

Aparently the police check the vehicle reg to see if its registered local. His wasnt as it was a new car of 3 days.
As it was not registered (updated) local where they could knock on the door the tow truck was there as quick as you like.

What we learned was its an offence to block access to a property. (leaning towards emergency access fire).

Just ring the police they will act.
To ease the guilty put a home made sign up.

Sorry to hear of your predicament mustang, but if they are parked legally I,e. not on a yellow line I don't think there is anything you can do.I do sympathise though as we have our share of inconsiderate gobsheets in our road too.Good luck.

slightly off on this post but still to do with parking the car park by the market and wilkos the council should enforce that where there are the gaps in the fencing for pedestrians/parents and even wheelchair and disabled scooter users can get through should be kept clear of vehicles and deemed strictly no parking. IMHO

Can you quote chapter and verse on that? Personally I'd never reverse onto a major road if I could avoid it.

Highway code Rule 201

Do not reverse from a side road into a main road. When using a driveway, reverse in and drive out if you can.

are there any road markings restricting parking opposite your drive, as you have said it takes 4-5 turns to get out of your drive so why would it be obstruction?

Try parking opposite your drive till they get the message that if you can't get out you won't use your drive worked for me!

IHave also had problem with council over a parking ticket,
I try parking in arrowe park hospital free car park but could not find a space so i try to park in the pay as you display. No luck there So save wasting petrol i park of street, I got a parking ticket,I was not causing a obstruction and not blocking any driveway,I only park there as i was panicking my dad was in the hdu @hospital and was giving 24hrs to live. The only good thing to come out of this is my dad is still with us today and on the road to recovery.
