Wirral site says "All Sites Are Closed on 27 August 2012".

All Leisure Centres are closed on all Bank Holidays now, as our dear Council didn't like paying the staff enhanced pay for working them. Nothing to do with the staff wanting days off.

when kids and people are off , how ridiculous the leisure facilities are closed, places usually charge more on bank hols anyway, and people accept that. they just want to enjoy the last bank hol of the so called summer.

Historically the sites are/were very quiet on bank hols (absolutely dead Easter Sat and Sun and they should shut then too) but the wage bill was double time and a day in lieu for the people who worked. It just isn't worth the cost to keep them open paying what amounts to treble time, compared to the usage. Same between Christmas and New Year when at least they keep West Kirby and Europa open for people who want to swim.
