Two heavily cropped aerials of Voss Motors - c1960. The road it is on is the A41 'New Chester Road' - in both cases the road leading away on the other side of the A41 is the drive to Carlett Park College (now gone of course, but the drive is still there). A Bathstore and Domino's Pizza place stand on the site of Voss's today, according to Google Maps.

If memory serves me correctly, wasn't there a showroom on the corner of Hamilton St. and St.James St, next to hamilton Sq. Station, where luxury cars were sold? It was taken over by another large dealer (with a branch in Lower Bridge St, Chester.) and may have dealt with large commercial vehicles by then. When that closed, it was used as a car park and the St.or Sir James disco club. Then the site was refurbished became McConomy and then Comet, before being redeveloped into mixed use offices.
Meanwhile, there was another showroom of theirs, on the corner of Conway St and Cavendish St., opposite the park gates, selling more family orientated cars. This is now a mobility / electric wheelchair centre.

As usual, I might be wrong, but should revive some memories and correct me.

Yes it was Watsons and they sold Rolls Royce as well as other cars. I remember seeing my first Mini on sale there. During the war it was repairing damaged aircraft after being taken over. The garage facing the park gates was George Herrons the main Ford dealer.

The phone books show George Herron, 1969, Park Entrance, Ford Dealer and Fountain Garage, Wallasey.
1971 he is listed at Fountain Garage, Rake Lane, Wallasey and Duke Street, Park Station, Birkenhead.

In 1971 Herrons was run by Teddy Herron, his father having died Teddy then managed to run the firm into the ground .

Well, I got one bit correct.

The Wirral Way Service Station, opposite Christ Church School, was Wrights at on time. They had a small showroom there, selling small BMC and then BL cars. They also had a showroom and garage with rooftop parkng, further up Borough road, just past Temple Road. I think that may have been a Standard Triumph dealership.
