Historic Merseyside naval vessel used in D-Day in danger of being lost

FROM seeing action in one of the bloodiest battles of World War II to being used as a floating luxury clubhouse in Liverpool’s docklands, the Landfall has had a long and eventful history.

Now the historic Merseyside naval vessel is in danger of being lost after she started sinking in the Birkenhead dock which has been her home for more than a decade.

The Landfall is the last surviving tank landing craft to take part in the D-Day landings, and was rumoured at one stage to be on the point of being acquired by Steven Spielberg for use in his World War II blockbuster, Saving Private Ryan.....

It's becoming an epidemic. No-one with any control of these things gives a damn. It's the ordinary people, like us, who get upset and angry while the powers that be do nothing.
I'm disgusted.

We can spend a fortune on restoring a German submarine and putting it on display at Woodside, yet a mile away we allow the last landing craft from D-Day to rot and sink. Does no one appreciate the bitter irony of this? What price our history? It makes you sick.

Sighs. See all the previous posts about Wirral Numpty Council and their disregard for heritage. Just a reminder to any newbies, the Wirral councillors have all been in-bred since they allowed the New Brighton tower to be demolished.
