One of the earliest recorded murders was that of Peter Watts. He was a stranger in the parish and was 'done' to death in 1695. He is buried in st hilarys churchyard, wallasey village.

Robert Benet was killed at Salgham (saughall massey) by William Anyon on 20 September 1438 by striking him with a 'mall'. The inquest was held at bidston on 30 november. The jury returned a verdict of felony.
