Transformers and Fantastic 4?? Their movies for kids lol! If this is Hollywood is releasing in the next couple of months then its no wonder people wont pay to go and watch movies and would rather download them lol!

I would agree with you until i had the Cinema Experience
its awesome and makes the movie.

Trust me if these are movies for kids i wanna be a kid again,
there along the lines of X MEN.

Enjoyable to all.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 29th May 2007 12:45am
The cinema experience is all well and good (we all know what its like), but with increasing ticket prices, stupid rules on drinks and food (a diabetic wasnt allowed to take their own food into a Vue cinema the other day) and an all out war against providing cheaper tickets by the industry, its very rare I ever show my support.

They should have let easyCinema have an equal playing field, it would have revelutionised the industry and made it more accessible to more people more of the time, but the fat cats in the industry were too scared and killed it off.

Hopefully one day Stelios will find a way to get a fair agreement with the film studios. (I mean come on he was offering to pay MORE per movie then any other cinema company, yet they said no on the grounds his plan was to sell tickets starting at just 20p!).

frown
Posted By: Mark Re: Re: At the Flicks - 29th May 2007 12:48am
£6 isn't that bad for the experience.
For a Good movie that is, but i would feel ripped off on a crap one.

Its the experience, and getting out for a change lol.
We had already eaten before we went, so i didn't fall over at the prices as i didn't see them.
But i guess there bad.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 29th May 2007 12:54am
£6 isnt bad, but when one considers 15 Sky Movie channels and Sky Movies Anytime (On Demand) meaning over 600 movies a month etc can be had for as little as £6.50 per month, it puts the price into perspective.

Im not saying the experience wasnt worth it, as its a totally different experience to watching it at home. But the pricing should be far cheaper then what they charge, for that type of film Stelios was looking to charge 90p maximum for a ticket with easyCinema, so it just goes to show how bad it is.

Also, as you say, if it had been a crap movie and you hadnt particuarly enjoyed it, you would have felt as though you were short changed. And so many movies nowadays are utter crud.

Why again lol? Im pretty sure people on the forums can read wink
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 29th May 2007 4:54pm
Ticket prices are far too high especially if your paying for a friend or other half.

The rules for food and drink are stupid, but with the vue cinema in town, it's great as you can spend 2 or 3 quid on snacks in Wilkinson 5 mins before the movie and head back over as it's starting wink

It's always good to have the cinema experience once in a while, but no films get my attention at the moment
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 29th May 2007 4:55pm
Oceans 13 is the only one getting my attention. But it wont get a good critique as 12 didnt, yet that was a great film, every bit as good as 11 imho.

Its funny, the films that are touted and raved about by the media are usually the ones that are actually crap... its the manufactured society we live in though!

Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 30th May 2007 10:57pm
The simpsons in my honest opinion is far over-done now. Its got old and very tired and extremely boring. The movie is just an attempt for one final cash in on a very outdated brand.

smile
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 30th May 2007 11:10pm
but but..it looks cool lol

yeah, simpsons tv series is well over-done and boring. Family guy is 10 times better and funnier. American dad isn't that bad either
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 30th May 2007 11:13pm
Movies always look good from the trailers - they only show the best parts of the movies in them, hence their trailers lol, they need to entice people to go an watch them smile
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 30th May 2007 11:15pm
indeed I hate being mis-lead by trailers.

Come to think of it, the longer trailers of the simpsons movie look crap, whether its cas the whole scene or gag isn't in each little bit or its just actually crap, we'll have to wait and see.
Posted By: CustomIce Re: Re: At the Flicks - 4th Jun 2007 8:37am
Saw Pirates of the Carribean at worlds end on the massive screen at Vue.

It was far better than the second, and on a par with the first one. Thumbs up from me.

And i'm almost wetting myself with excitement about the transformers movie! Can't wait!

Posted By: Mark Re: Re: At the Flicks - 23rd Jun 2007 7:10pm
Oceans 13

Good if your a fan of the Oceans Series.

It was okay, its not a big screen movie to be honest.
But the hysts in this one were as original as ever.

It was Oceans 13 or Shrek 3
I still think i chose the better one lol

If there's nothing else worth watching then give it a go,
i wont say it was crap as it was good, no humour or very little.

Transformers and
Fantastic 4 still look the big screen pics for me
if i have to go again lol

Die Hard 4.0 - 7 out of 10

Wasn't bad. Quite funny, action packed, some good special effects

only bad points were, it went on a bit and ended up just being a typical action movie, lots of shooting, explosions, "hacking", viruses, bad guys getting killed at the end.

Didn't think it would be my sort of movie (havn't seen the other die hards) but I'd say go watch it if you are stuck in bored and just fancy a change.

Cant wait to go and see it, something for everyone - apart from MattyC

I have read really good reviews plus 1 or 2 bad ones, apparently the humour is of the more recent episodes rather than the mid series currently showing on channel 4.

I personally prefer the older episodes as the humour on the neweer ones is a bit to American for me, plus Futurama is probably better than the newer episodes of the Simpsons.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 27th Jul 2007 3:08pm
I am certain that not "everyone" will want to go and see it and it wont have "something for everyone".

Jeeze why do people assume that just because its The Simpsons, suddenly the whole world is going to come to a grinding halt and take notice. Its not as big as you fans of it like to think, and if anything, the movie will be sold upon its name rather then quality.

Ive red a short review recently in a newspaper that said the movie was being sold on its brand more then the quality of the content. Which is usually the way when a TV/movie series becomes too stale and far overrun.

Transformers

Definately worth watching.

Absolutely amazing CGI

Great story line intergrated with real events (i.e. building of the hoover dam, beagle landing on mars)

It did go on a quite bit I thought, it lasted about 2 hours I think. It did have some funny moments.

Some very nice cars in it aswell.

Not really a family film imo, only cas of how long it goes on for and a bit of bad language (very little), but enjoyable for big kids.

Didn't think I'd enjoy it but I did.

8 out of 10 smile

It looked alrite on the advertisements that Disturbia, but I just looks like a typical film of its genre. Same storyline all the time, somone gets kidnapped, tortured but don't die, torturer gets killed by person they are being tortured e.t.c

Transformers is really good! The design of the autobots and decepticons have been drastically updated, some for the better others not.
The first half is really funny, and the fighting action is waaaaay too fast! may have to get it on dvd and watch at 3/4 speed to keep up (not that i'm particularly slow lol)

They still make the "noise" too!

Really enjoyed it, go see it!

went to see the simpsons last night and I have to say its worth seeing...especially for £4 a ticket.

I'm just gutted that I saw nearly all of the best jokes on youtube, so it spoilt it for me, there was only one or two funny moments.

Worth watching even if you're not a fan of the simpsons, as it will make you laugh.

9/10

Rush hour 3 looks really good, but as Mark said, could be one for the home
Posted By: Mark Re: Re: At the Flicks - 2nd Aug 2007 8:42am
where was your £4 ticket from joe ?
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 2nd Aug 2007 11:43am
I went to the vue cinema in birkenhead.

It was available online for £4 and at where I bought the tickets from, at the automated machines where you use your card to pay.

Dunno if the price was different at the till though?

It seems a bit cheaper if you pay for your ticket online in advance with MyVue

Just checking as i thought you got in as a kid lol
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 2nd Aug 2007 6:06pm
lol I couldn't possibly get in as a kid tease
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:19pm
Was somewhat forced to watch the simpsons before... and I have to say apart from the odd moment, it was pretty poo.

It didnt flow very well, seemed to jump between scenarios a lot and way too fast, the storyline was overkill and the characters seemed to be very different (except Homer) from what I remember in the TV series.

They seemed to just throw in the odd gag and punchline every now and again and other then that it got a bit boring after an hour or so, surprisingly, the first half hour was the best part of the entire movie.

Glad I never paid to see it or I would have been gutted to have done so, wouldnt recommend it to anyone unless you have kids, who will love it simply because its the Simpsons, the actual movie was pretty lame itself.
Posted By: fordsteve Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:21pm
well mate i must be a kid because i loved it lol
Posted By: Mark Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:25pm
pomp said he wasn't overly impressed ?
May be he said that so we wouldn't beat him up.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:26pm
Are you a fan of the Simpsons in general? Im not the biggest fan although I did used to like it years ago. Sometimes you can believe its amazing just because you want it to be, and you dont want to be disappointed, like I tend to do with ATB lol.

I mean lets get real, there wasnt truely much a flow to is, it kept jumping from one thing to another too quick, the storyline was a bit overkill, and it wasnt as funny as everyone has made it out to be - i mean there were gags in it, some of them were hilarious, but the majority wernt anything special, boarderline stupid in a few cases.

Its almost as though they tried too hard, and the real basis and format of the simpsons got lost somwhere.
Posted By: fordsteve Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:29pm
to be honest mate they showed most of the funny bits when they done all the adds for the film so by the time you watched the adds you see most of the film anyway lol
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:33pm
Lmao, I have to agree with that.

I think I was expecting it to be a bit more light hearted and maybe a bit more morally compelling then what it was. As it turned out, it was sort of in between, not overly funny, but no real sense of the usual moral basis the simpsons usually has, except of course what homer does to the lake lmao.

The police guy asking the mafia about the body was hilarious grin
Posted By: fordsteve Re: Re: At the Flicks - 5th Aug 2007 7:35pm
lmao yer i no what you mean as you said i am a fan of simpsons anyway so guess i was going to enjoy it more than some one who not really a fan. lol i just think homer is a roll model raftl

I used to like the Green power ranger who became the white one i think... mind you am talkin about the original series about 10 yrs ago or summit lol.
Posted By: Waddi Re: Re: At the Flicks - 11th Aug 2007 7:48pm
Thats The Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, With the evil green ranger Tommy, who then became good green ranger, then converted into the white Ranger.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 11th Aug 2007 7:50pm
Lol thats the one, he had long hair?

Ihink he was evil when he was green though, i thought he just became more powerful when he changed into white?

Posted By: jonah Re: Re: At the Flicks - 11th Aug 2007 7:52pm
dunno bout the films, dunno how many power rangers films they done, can only think of the one...
Posted By: Waddi Re: Re: At the Flicks - 11th Aug 2007 8:14pm
OK, according to Power Ranger Central

- Tommy Started as Evil Green ranger
- Red Ranger Tommy Defeated Green Ranger in battle and destroyed the Sword of Darkness which released Tommy from the Evil spell.
- The power rangers welcomed the new good green ranger onto the team
- Evil Rita, the original creator and boss of the evil green ranger created a green candle and once it had burnt out, Tommy lost his ranger powers
- Tommy was no longer a power ranger,
- The remaining Power Rangers loose their power coins, Tommy is given a new Dragon Power coin and once again becomes the good green ranger, but these powers were only temporary.
- Tommy is given new powers and becomes The White Ranger
- Again Tommy loses his powers after being defeated in battle,
- Tommy Uses the Falcon Power Coin given to him by Ninjor to gain new powers
- Tommy uses the Zeo Crystal to become Red Zeo Ranger and Power Rangers Zeo series begins.
- Next, Tommy Upgraded his powers to become Red Turbo Ranger and Power Rangers Turbo series begins.
- Tommy Passes on his powers to TJ and retires as a Power Ranger
- Apparantly he came back a few year later but I got bored reading about him and his lose powers, get new powers loop.
Posted By: MattLFC Re: Re: At the Flicks - 11th Aug 2007 8:16pm
Haha I think I watched up until the Zeo series... that itself was years ago lmao!
Posted By: Waddi Re: Re: At the Flicks - 11th Aug 2007 8:21pm
I watched it when Tommy was Green Ranger, then caught the odd episode when he was white, havent watched it since. It was too scarey for me.

That Superbad looks good.

I rememember seeing this trailer when I was watching transformers in Edinburgh when it was released.

Might see if I can get hold if it smile
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 14th Sep 2007 10:30pm
That superbad is shite.

I'd give it 5 outta 10.

Didnt find much of it funny.

It started off shit, but did get a bit better about 3/4 of the way in.

Very schoolboy humour - I would have liked it if I was in year 10 and went with my mates from school.

Also, what the fook is up with the adverts before films?!!??!?

Got well pissed off - paid £5.70 for a ticket to watch 30 minutes of adverts before the film even started.

Thing is, you get there 10/15 mins early to get a decent seat so you're there like 45mins pissed off before a shite 2 hour film starts.

Thats me done for the cinema for a long while no no
Posted By: Mark Re: Re: At the Flicks - 14th Sep 2007 10:59pm

Watched Superhero movie last night and I was in tears - Leslie Nielsen is a legend.

I'd give it 8/10

I wanted to watch Hancock when it comes out but after watching a longer trailer doesn't look that good tbh.

Meet Dave looks well funny
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 3rd Jul 2008 11:33pm
Watched Hancock before.

Started off crap, but got better.

It's a good film, but not great.

Wouldn't really recommend watching it unless you're bored and have nothing else to do, otherwise, wait til it's shown on telly.

7/10

Meet Dave is one I'll be going to see when it's out and maybe the Love Guru too with Mike Myers in, that looks good.

Ive heard Confliting things bout Hancok, and to be fair most of it is good. I mean, ome on, Who seriosly Throws a Whale? thumbsup

Ive not seen it yet, but I think Hancocks counellor (psychatrist or something) is played by an actor from Arrested Development, one of te greatest comedies ever, cancelled cos the amerians didnt get the humour?? So I imagine that actors humour to be in Hancock as well..

As For the Hulk.....

Havent seen the first one, dont intend to see the second, cos I know any other film ever released is going to be a letdown after seeing IRONMAN !!!!!!!!!

the first hulk indeed was a disaster, but the second one was completely different and nothing to do do with the first one. i'd say it was almost as good if not as good as iron man
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Re: At the Flicks - 4th Jul 2008 11:08am
Wow, ya sure man???

Cos Iron Man was ridiulously good..lets not say things well regret at a later date doh

Meet Dave - 6.5/10

Some funny bits, but nothing more than whats shown in the trailers.

Not one of Eddie Murphy's best films.

Worth buying on DVD for £4, but not £5.90 each at the cinema thumbsdown
Posted By: MissGuided Re: Re: At the Flicks - 19th Oct 2008 4:27pm
Assume this is the best place to talk about a film...
Went to see Burn After Reading last night.
[Linked Image]
Its a Coen brothers film starring John Malkovich, Frances McDormand, George Clooney, Tilda Swinton and Brad Pitt.
Malkovich is a tired, alcoholic (?) husband who is a CIA analyst. The plot circulates around his character. Swinton is his snotty English wife who wants to divorce him. McDormand's character is pleasantly ignorant of the havoc she is causing (which ends up involving her boss at the gym - with horrific consequences). Clooney's character is a bit of a loser, slimy and uptight. He's building a secret in the basement...(hilarious when you see what it is). Brad Pitt stole the show playing against type as a complete a$$hole who works at the local gym with McDormand's character.
It was very funny, not quite what you expected from the trailer. Seemed to start off slowly but then suddenly crashed through events. 8/10 (imdb rating 7.8/10)
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: Re: At the Flicks - 9th Nov 2008 8:00pm
The house bunny - some funny bits, 5/10

Saw V - Tells you the full story, no new amazing plot, should watch number 4 again at least if you haven't seen them for a while so it's easier to follow, 7/10
Posted By: MGCraig Re: Re: At the Flicks - 9th Nov 2008 8:32pm
Quantum Of Solace - 9/10

Dont listen to the review people. They are clearly in the wrong profession. They complain that theres no story line, and that the title has nothing to do with the film. Bullshit. They clearly paid no attention to the film, events that took place etc..and if you agree with the them, then you are an idiot and your opinion doesnt count raftl

This is as good as Casino Royale, which in Hindsight was better than any Bond Film ever...so basically, the best Bond Films ever, have been the last 2.

GO WATCH !!!!

The Grey, 9.5/10

Best film I have seen since The Mist and certainly is very similar to it in that its about the human fears and emotions side of the situation rather than all guns blazing with a smile. It has a similarly tragic ending. Liam Neeson is brilliant. The rest of the cast are very good, and the music and awesome scenery just makes the whole package.

A cross between The Mist and Alive from 1993

I understand its not for everyone, but I suggest you see it before passing judgement.

Just seen 'Lincoln' film. Day Day-Lewis was brilliant and I thought it was well-written and Spielberg's best film yet. The music score most apt.

Don't know why 'Quartet' such hype. I found it boring.

Decided to now go to Light Cinema instead of Fact. It is much more convenient for people living in Wirral and the seats are comfortable. it did enable me to doze off in middle of 'Quartet' grin

On friday i decided to go to the pictures, straight from work at 8 oclock
there was a choice of 3 films ,starting in the time frame , i choose DJANGO UNCHAINED. A western based film, well acted, good comedy timing, story plot . I thoroughly enjoyed it .When i got home, telling family about it , realised one daugther had seen it the week before .So had a good natter about it !!!
Also first time i,ve been since 60 b/day so got money off as well!!

They're better now than they use to be. They have more depth instead of things flying out every 5 minutes.

The Director, Justin Chadwick, is from Salford and I caught a brief glimpse of an interview with him on TV; he came over as really great guy.

The film is 2 hours 15 minutes.
