CRASH
A man had to be freed by firefighters after his car overturned in a serious crash in Wallasey.

The driver, in his 30s, was understood to have serious injuries after the Vauxhall Corsa he was driving struck a stationary Nissan car on Seabank Road just before 10.15am today. The Vauxhall ended up on its roof.

Merseyside Fire Service confirmed they were called to the scene of the accident and firefighters came to the aid of the Vauxhall driver who was "trapped in the vehicle". A spokeswoman said he was treated at the scene by ambulance staff.

Merseyside Police confirmed Seabank Road had been closed in both directions and traffic is also been turned back at the junction with Manor Lane and Penkett Road.

Police said they were aware that fire and ambulance officials had helped the man at the scene. It is understood the man has suffered serious injuries - but further details are not available at this stage.

It is not believed anyone else was hurt in the accident which has caused significant congestion amid the road closures.

Note - there are a number of existing road closures in place while resurfacing takes place on Rake Lane and some adjacent streets. Diversion signs have taken traffic along Seabank Road.

It's very hard to turn a car over in a 30 zone!
