Looks like there's been an over night house fire on Victoria Parade, New Brighton. Police still in attendance. Hope everyone is OK.

Saw the house yesterday morning, it's gutted. Number 4. Taped off and plod car outside.

Nothing on the local news sites (Echo, Wirral Globe) or on the Merseyside Fire Brigade incident pages, which seems odd.

I've since heard it was a petrol bomb thought the window. Apparently the owner of the house is OK, apart from smoke inhalation.

An investigation is underway following a suspected arson attack in New Brighton.

Emergency services were called to Victoria Parade at about 11pm, on Tuesday, October 29, to a report of a fire.

Fire officers found the front window of the house had been smashed. A blaze in the front room was then extinguished.

An elderly woman and a boy were in the property when the fire started, but had made their way outside when fire crews arrived.

They were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure for assessment as they were suffering the effects of smoke inhalation.

The scene has been cordoned-off for examination and house-to-house enquiries have been undertaken.

A full investigation into the incident is currently ongoing.

Anyone with information should contact Merseyside Police on 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously, on 0800 555 111.
