There's a fire in progress right now in a top floor flat on King Street, Wallasey (next to the fitness place.) The Fire Brigade is in attendance and removing the PVC window from the inside, so it seems they have it under control. Hopefully nobody's hurt.

Sorry no pics. frown

On a separate note, has anyone noticed that one of the embossed brick decorations on the corner on these buildings has been removed/stolen and the gap bricked up? And it's a listed building too!

sherlock In the 2nd photo above, you can't see where the missing embossed brick decoration used to be as it's been covered up by the long "Genesis" logo poster...

Hmmm... well, the photo's are linked to my post, (hope everyone can view them OK,) but how do I make them load with my posts?

Anyone?

Moon what used to be behind the genesis sign?

Do you see those fancy bricks on the building? Well, there was a big square one with a face in it, and it's been removed and bricked up. They've hidden what they've done behind that long poster.

And the building is listed! mad

Wonder why?

Was it a picture of a woman holding a rose or am I thinking of another building?

Maybe they removed it to put the sign up?

They shouldn't be removing anything! The whole point of having a building listed is to protect it from destruction, detrimental development and even D.I.Y enthusiasts. It's in place to preserve the character of the building and it's history.

They probably removed the face to flog it! mad

I'm going to upload a photo of a similar facial brick decoration just as soon as I take it, so you can see what was removed. smile

This is similar to what was taken;

Take a look on Google Street View for 3, Rice Lane. It's from when K+L Office Furniture were there. On the end corner of the top floor there is a figure in the bricks, but below it (first floor) there is a bricked-up black square, with a surround that could indicate that it was once a window. I always wonder what it might have been, but both of these are now covered over by the vertical banner.
In your second picture, the very top of that wall, above gutter hight, also has a decorative brick moulding underneath the decorative finnial.
