There is a council camera that covers the Old Chester Rd/Grove Rd junction, whoever was there should be on it.

My daughter aged 12 was followed in august and shown pornographic material, the police told me not to go to the papers or post it on facebook as it may hamper there enquiries.I regret not doing this now but thought they knew best! If you look on the wirral globe facebook site there is a few other incidents that people have written about(around the beginning of december)

The school took my 14 yr old grandaughters phone off her, at the end of the day she had to wait about 45 mins after school let out to get it back. She was using the calculator on it in maths, as she struggles in this subject, when i said to the teacher i think its wrong to make her wait this long after all her friends had gone and she would have been on her own and possibly vunerable in the dark, the teacher just looked as if i was a paranoid freak or something the cat dragged in.
I mentioned posts that had been in the local papers and news papers she just shrugged .
I know my grandaughter should of asked if she could use the phone but i find the whole attitude of the teacher deplorable .
Posted By: FiremanFil Re: Parents be Aware !! - 4th Jan 2012 7:00pm
The teacher probably waited that long so she could call her boyfriend on your grand-daughter's phone in America, where he is probably trying to start up the fourth reich in secret. This teacher should be reported. That is unacceptable behaviour for someone in a position of responsibility to children.

My daughter and myself have a meeting with two members of staff at the school at 11.30 this morning so i will let you know the outcome later , not expecting any resolution to the problems but u have to go down a set road with any complaints. I will not be fobbed off and will be taking it futher . I have made a note of questions as due to health probs my short term memory is hopeless.
Not holding out much hope but you never know maybe one of them may care about pupils well being xx
Posted By: ex0__ Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 10:02am
C'mon, removing the phone wasn't unreasonable. Any teacher would have. Sounds like you're just whining tbh, there aren't murderers and rapists around every corner.
Posted By: FaCrE Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 12:27pm
I do agree. Technology has advanced pretty well, but theres nothing wrong with sticking to school rules and using an actual calculator. Ive also noticed people seem a lot more paranoid these days. I doubt theres any more murderes and rapists in the world than say 20 years ago. Difference is they get reported more and people worry more.

exO_ I like your posts. Credit to the site wink

Another whining parent, how does the teacher(or you for that matter)know she wasn't texting? In the long term you will be doing the girl's charecter no favours behaving in this outraged pompous manner. She has to learn that actions have consequences.
Posted By: mollydolly Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 1:56pm
Not unreasonable to take phone quite agree on that. But too make her wait at end of day is. They are not allowed to give detention on the same day, have to give 24 hours notice. So why should they be allowed to get away with doing that. I don't see it as whining i see it as a parent who cares. So many don't these days.
Posted By: BandyCoot Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 2:04pm
Calculator in Maths because it's hard? I really do not understand that one. There should not be switched on phones in a classroom, end of. If there is any worry about the dark, leave the phone and get it back the next day.
Lots of peeps knowing entitlements but nothing about responsibilities.
Posted By: diggingdeeper Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 2:47pm
When you start at a school, the rules are made clear and most schools have you sign an agreement. This is yet another example of even more school time being used up to resolve problems from a parent who can't accept that their little angel broke the rules.

It amazes me that kids have a £xxx mobile phone yet don't seem to have the money for a £3 calculator.

The kids need to practice using a calculator that they can use in exams, not a mobile phone.
Posted By: Madge Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 4:27pm
Its nice to hear commen sense replies, Mobile phones should be switched off in school, they are not needed, and as someone else said you can buy a calculater cheaply enough, they are there to learn not mess round, namby pamby parenting, its no wonder the country is breeding chinless wonders who think life owes them a living, !
Posted By: sean Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 4:39pm
calculator???? what's wrong with doing sums on paper?
Posted By: janazca Re: Parents be Aware !! - 5th Jan 2012 5:35pm
IT was my grandaughter i was writing about , yes she does know the rules , yes she did brake the rules but complex maths is a subject she struggles with, so she used her phone without permission, she has got a calculator but she left it in another bag at home, her fault no-one else to blame and yes she was told off by her mum for this. Several weeks ago the school said that they will get her some one to one help ,to date this has not happened and i do know that things dont happen over night and do take time to set in place.
As re the monsters round every corner i know thats not true but a person attempted to abduct a girl of a similar age to my grandaughter not 2 minutes from my grandaughters home FACT . I have not heard about any arrest being made so the person is probably still out and about.
My daughter makes sure my grandaughter stays in a group on her way home so making ANY CHILD wait after school for about an hour to get their phone is not right.
We meet with staff today and my grandaughter has spent the afternoon in exclusion at school with the FULL permision of myself and her mum .
I think sometimes on posts like this it is quite easy if all the facts are not in the post for some to jump the gun and think the child is one who can do no wrong i can assure you all she knows every action has consiquenses (sp )? and she does not think life owes her anything , she comes from a close loving family and knows if rules are broken you take the flack .
Iam sorry if my spelling and grammer is not up to scratch but i have some nurologacal? problems and it affects my written (or typed) word .

i have three teenage kids . they take there phones to school at there own risk .tough shite if the teachers take it off them its there own fault .

I think children having mobile 'phones in case of emergencies is a good idea, but I think if,when arriving at school, they turned them off and gave them to the teacher to mind until home time it might alleviate a few problems.

When was that put into force?? I went to Neston and people would be given detention that day if they misbehaved etc.

Pathetic Nanny State we live in. If you had prior engagements then the detention could and would be postponed. Even if it meant missing the bus home. Its a punishment and should be adhered to end of. If you break school rules and are punished, then oh well. You found another way home. Ring for a lift etc

whats wrong with putting hand up, explaining to the teacher and asking can i use my fone, teacher would probably lend one...

i think its only right that when detentions are handed out they are for the following day, at least as a parent i would get to find out thats my child is on a detention ! and not leave me worrying as to wwhy they are late.

As for the teacher taking the phone away till the end of day i think is wrong, its private property.

How on earth did this thread go from a warning about an undesirable approaching school kids to bloody calculators and teachers taking mobiles off kids raftl

They shouldn't have their mobiles at school if that is the rule, pure and simple!! No amount of moaning about it is going to change the school rules. If you don't like it, move your kids to a school where they allow mobiles in class. As for the detentions, when I was at school there was no warning - you got it that day, end of!

We had detention same day and then when we got home late and asked why by parents we got punished then too!!!!
Never had mobiles back then either, maths was always worked out in the head or on paper (not a screen!!) If i remember we used to get extra marks for SHOWING the working out!!

wtf is up with you people ? we`ve got serious concerns and numerous incidents of some dirty scumbag trying
2 grab young girls(and determined 2 do so judging by the amount of attempts in past few weeks) and the only way this info is being put out is by the parents/family/schools telling us there is a paedo lurking `alert`, and the response is for `grown adults` 2 read about a 12yr old girl using a calculator in school then see that as being more alarming (enough 2 start being a keyboard warrior and ripping into how bad she is using a calc in maths) u lot for fkn real or what ????? but an attempted child abductor trying 2 lure kids is nothing 2 have an attack on is beyond me !!! id sooner have a child needing a little help with maths in our society than shallow ignorant `adults`that would sooner attack than protect our children!!!!
Posted By: Wench Re: Parents be Aware !! - 9th Jan 2012 8:18pm
The issue, Lashs, is that the thread went off topic from someone posting about their grandchild having their mobile took off them and it spiralled from there, hence my question.

I doubt anyone is saying that it's not serious. Unfortunately it's just the nature of the site lately I'm afraid frown

I have to say though, if the "alert" is being conveyed to parents by the schools then they should already know about it. People like myself, who thankfully don't have kids, wouldn't have the first clue of what's going on in and around schools so not sure what use it is to me personally as I don't hang round schools, if that makes sense.

Hope that helps a little.

well i have 3 an this must be about the 8th incident in last 4-5 weeks now and it seems most schools have been sending letters except woodchurch were my 3go and i had it down as storys wen 1st heard because something so serious would surely b 1st priority 2warn parents i thought but still nothing ! i had 2 hear frim facebook friends and family (all ppl i know) and here ! AND BEFORE ANYONE starts gettin hyped up about the facebook tittletattlin fake storys two seperate incidents withina week of each other tryin 2 grab 2 diff schoolgirls into a car (i know both well) within yards of wer im living (beechwood) and the rest are the terrified girls parents themselves reporting 2 keep children close all have similar description, have tried grabbing into car or masterbating at them !(girls from 9yrs old to 16yrs old) and every single one has been reported to police and all told to not poblicly post as it may hamper there investigations of catching him ! only reason other parents are now telling this is because after this many timesand reading the same storys of other parents its not looking like there getting any closer 2 catching him and meanwhile its still going on and parents are complaining thechildren are being used as bait and theres no police presence!sorry to rant on but everytime my daughter leaves the house and new incidents are arising its constant fear because sooner or later hes go
ing to actually succeed and wtf can we do to stop it b4 then ?
Posted By: cezza Re: Parents be Aware !! - 10th Jan 2012 10:40am
The annoying thing about all this is that there is no publicity about it,my daughter was followed to her front door, scared to go out incase he was waiting for her,and what did the police do.....tell her to get a panic alarm! This was back in August and i am certain this man struck again in December. The description of this man was vague but on both occasions he was wearing paint splattered trousers, aged approx 30 and struck around 4pm. I am thinking this piece of ... is maybe working as a decorator and is striking after he finishes work? I would be interested to hear of anyone elses descriptions of him.

I cannot believe some of the negative comments on this thread!!

No dis respect to you exo however I don't understand your comments on this thread, if you don't feel the need to be aware of these now 'FACTS' then why read and comment? Why not just pass on this thread.
I understand some people go into overdrive and possible panic however My daughters school is one that has yet to make parents aware over these police reports and I'm very grateful to fb and Wiki for making me aware!! I have not gone into panic as I don't let my daughter out of my sight as she is only 8 but I see children of her age and younger walking to and from school and would hope these rumours/facts would make parents think twice about allowing this. I for one would much rather people 'panic' or at least be aware and not be so apathetic, than hear of an awful happening. As for the crime rate not changing and it being the same as years ago...Who cares!! Any number of crime and awful happenings are bad to hear about!!
I again would like to thank these people of making me aware.

My worry is more so why the police/schools aren't alerting every school and parents in these areas, as it could make these parents who (for whatever reason)allow their children to walk alone, think twice and therefore preventing any awful happenings.

Prevention and panic is much better than a family losing a treasured member or other children losing a best friend and causing massive heartache and anger in the community.

This is not meant to cause any arguments or dis respect to anyone, this is just my opinion. Emma
Posted By: ex0__ Re: Parents be Aware !! - 11th Jan 2012 9:57am
Because they aren't facts. It's worried parents egging on other worried parents, and the person above you that doesn't know what punctuation is admitted as much. It does more harm than good.
Posted By: Littlebear Re: Parents be Aware !! - 11th Jan 2012 10:29am
If you're telling your kid to not talk to strangers and avoid walking alone or down back alleys in the dark then you're doing the best you can, there is nothing else you can do to try and avoid having them go off with a potential paedophile (which I think are far less common than is made out). Also, it's a good idea to not let your kid out after 9pm.

I'm not a parent, but I know schools and the police are alerting parents and kids to the risks of 'talking to strangers'. I remember police coming into school nearly every year to lecture us on it, it's one lesson that stuck in my head growing up.

I think parents are worrying too much, because
a) kids aren't stupid and are overly aware of the thread of a paedophile,
b) you have to consider the amount of planning a potential paedophile would have to do to actually snatch a kid (including consideration of the high possibility of getting caught thanks to passing cars, other people, CCTV, etc),
c) there's a tiny fraction of paedophiles out there than the Daily Mail makes out, and I bet a fraction of that that actually wants to steal your kid on the way home from school,
d) Apart from the few high-profile cases where a kid has been taken (and raped/killed/etc), cases where someone's child has been kidnapped are rare, and the press loves to cover this type of thing.

I don't think parents have anything to worry about, and you're turning society into something that's terrified of the slightest noise outside your window at night. Every single posting on here that claims this is a massive threat to your children is just the same scaremongering.
Posted By: jabber_Ish Re: Parents be Aware !! - 11th Jan 2012 10:45am
i appreciate parents being scared shitless by all this being a father myself. My daughter is nearly 15 and she wants to look "alternative" and because of this gets abuse from the chavs all the time. I dont let her out on the streets full stop ! Theres too many violent little ******** around as it is without the fear of other threats.

I find it astounding that parents let there kids wander tbh. Maybe im far too overprotective. I know that by the timje i was 13 i was wandering all over the wirral but it seemed a safer world then.

If my daughter wants to go to Bhead, liscard or liverpool it is always with mates and they are all instructed to stick together as a group and come back to our house as a group. I feel responsible for them all until they are all back with there own families which i ensure by giving them lifts.

I dont believe for one minute that this isnt happening all to often but the media go completely over the top imo.

Posted By: diggingdeeper Re: Parents be Aware !! - 11th Jan 2012 7:21pm
When I was teaching, at one school, there was rarely a week that at least one person wasn't reported for loitering around the school's premises, sometimes as many as three in one day were reported. Generally they were only reported when it was very clear they were loitering intentionally eg repeated days, repeated walk-pasts or staring for long periods.

What is worrying is that in some cases the car registration was reported and the police would contact the person suggesting they walk their invisible dog somewhere else. Assuming that after a warning they would take heed and not return, that would mean that many of the loiterers were newcomers.

It was not uncommon to find people attending open days/parents evenings that had no explanation for their presence at some schools.

I also noticed at one time that that bin lorries had a habit of parking for extended periods outside the sweet shop opposite Wirral Grammar School for Girls at times when it was busiest, remarkable coincidence I'm sure, not to mention the increased danger by disrupting traffic flow.

Mostly harmless(?) perving no doubt.

Oh please, you can't link merseymagazine as a reliable source of information. All the owner does is grabs news from real news sites and posts it without giving the original source, except the editor adds in their own spelling and grammar mistakes.

This one has a follow-on comment from a different parent with a different incident quoting he reported similar behaviour to these FACTS. He says he reported to police and schools and nothing has been said or done over it.

That makes 3 'police' confirmed seperate incidents. 4 including the mersey mag, 5 including this parents comment, and correct me if I'm wrong 6 being the earlston inncident last week, which saw the schools texting parents?

I don't see anyone in overdrive panic, just alot of concerned parents. Rightly so

Again thanks to the concerned parents who are reporting them on FB and Wiki to make parents aware.

Yes you do make a point which can certainly not be written off!

I personally have taken on board these rumours/facts and offered help to my friends who cant take/get their children from school for whatever reason.

Better to be safe than sorry smile

Ste, my daughter was followed to her front door by someone who was showing her pornographic material, the police took her clothing away for DNA as they thought this was important because he had his arm around her,the police did a video interview with her and offered her counselling. They obviously took this matter VERY seriously . I find your comment very disrespectful.

Thats a very personal statement you have made on a public forum, but as disrespectful as it may seem to you a majority of these stories are made up noncense, i mean 4 times in 1 week?

Wake up people!

Are we reading different posts or something? All he said was some dude showed his daughter a bit of pr0n and police took her jacket or whatever. That he finds it disrespectful is neither here nor there, he knows you're not gonna remove the post anyway =p

Everyone is very much entitled to their own opinion, I still find some quite harsh. Everyone has the entitlement to put their own across however I do think there are ways and means of doing so appropriately.

All I can say is I hope you are all right (those of you saying so) and that this is all very much exaggerated!

Emma.

Not down to me to remove it, i`m not a mod and personaly i wouldn`t be posting that kind of material on a public website.

If it is true, the police would of told him this as it could hamper their investigatiuon wink

Ok,maybe I shouldnt of posted all that information, but just feel the comment made about children making stories up because they were late back from school was uncalled for. Everyone is entitled to there own opinion and I was just trying to get across that my daughters story was very much true
