I had a stroke in December 2010, and while i,am recovering i decided to scratch build a 1/24 scale railway on oo/ho rail. So i decided to make a Railcar, the chassis is an old intercity 125.

Well done Mike. You've got more patience than I have. Good work on the attention to detail. Hints of rust on the exhaust of the green industrial loco - nice touch!
Is that Peco track or Hornby ? When I made a fixed layout for my (then) young son to play with (THE perfect excuse!), I painted the rails with Humbrol "Rust" and just wiped the railhead clean. Looked quite authentic.

hi, thanks everyone for compliments yes the track i use is OO and mixed hornby/lima/jouef which i get from bootsales and people have given me the buildings im making out of card or anything i can find the layout is 5,foot X 4,foot made out of MDF and bit,s of old bed slats i recycle so keep watching im in the process of making a set of 2 terrace houses THANKS..

HI,Thanks again everyone just a bit of information on the gauge i,am modelling GN15 is based on 15" narrow gauge where there is a few real light railways based about england so 1/24th scale half inch to the foot on OO 16.5 track is loosely 15" gauge GN15 if you google the Gnatterbox forum it will give some idea of the gauge and some of the models on the site are great hope this of help to understand what im trying to make THANKS mike..

BOMB BLAST AT M.A.R. railway layout....NEWS... There was a bomb blast at the M.A.R model rail layout in prenton birkenhead today 10/06/2011 apparently when DAVE the track layer was doing foundations to the OO track his pick HIT! a old german WW2 3000LB bomb historians said the bomb was dropped in july 17th 1941 by luftwaffle pilot HANS PUMPERNIKLE, A spokesperson for the M.A.R. railway said its sad it was absolute carnage especially on a five foot X four foot layout bits of track bits of buildings wagons cars trains and people and butties everywhere we are all devastated THE WHOLE AREA IS GONE. BUT there was one happy note a survivor was left RONNIE2 the guard dog

We all love Wiki and we don't want to lose our access to this wonderful site so we have a place to go to where we can swear and deride anyone we like without having to mind our Ps and Qs. Any of you members on Wiki are more than welcome to come join Paradise and put your views across.
Mark is well aware of the 'alternative' site and as there is now a 'zero tollerance' in effect, people need somewhere to go where they can scream and shout if they want to.

I've been on the other site, and not once did mike loosing whatever come up. Proof being I don't even know what is wrong, also I think putting this problem at the centre of this is even more insensitive.
No insensitivity at all, Mike is more than man enough to face the challenges he has in life, what he doesn't need is people making fun of him or his present condition while he's trying to overcome them. Obviously my standards are different from yours.
If he is man enough then he doesn't need you or anybody else to stick up for him, he also should be able to take any fun being made of him on a website! Come on people, grow a set!

I hink the other site has had second thoughts on allowing guests to see what's been said. They wouldn't have got away with what was said if posted on wikiwirral, that's why the other site was created because of all the bans they got.
First off, Derek, I have never been banned from Wikiwirral, secondly, as I have already said, the other site was set up so that we (and anyone else who cares to join) can say things that we can't say on here because, as you said, we wouldn't get away with it on here. Thirdly, the other side chat has been temporarily closed because it was inundated with guests, no doubt from here, looking to see what the kerfuffle was about, who had no intention of joining and contributing. So, in conclusion, you have just re-iterated things that I have already said, thank you.

hi, o.m.g the picture below of the crew getting on the bus to go back to the layout yesterday, No body? noticed the blonde woman sitting in the front seat before the crew got on. well we got back from llandudno with BONZO and TINKERBELL we had a good time the pets had a good swim and feed and we made plenty of money with the ice cream sales. then we came back and we found the m.a.r transport police are looking for a woman called MAD marthar tattyknickers a friend of bert,s, what a bummer i thought she had gone away long ago i hope the police catch her soon?. So tonight we will be sleeping in the ice-cream van with the pet,s it will be a bit of a squeeze and the snoring from bonzo/tinkerbell/ann i dont think i,ll get much sleep?, we still have some rail and a small engine left at a store in another country as we were thinking about expanding there. cheers mike....

well, ann and i bonz and tinks have made it through the last border control ok, But the poor old ice ice-cream van is finding it hard to climb these mountains sometimes we are down to driving at walking pace, so to save straining the van ann has bonz/tinks walking behind on their leads the only thing is its causing a few accidents because people are overtaking, see us turn the heads open their mouths say something looks like? WHAT THE FFFFFFUUUUUCCCCC, then forget they are on a "bend", then drive of the side of the mountain. But DONT WORRY they have that insurance ive seen on the television i think? its named after the capital of this country. Well we have stopped at a cafe now and as bonz and tinks were very very good they are having a treat a big round block of swiss chesse and chocolate yum, yum, oh life on the open road its great mountain views good clean fresh air! OH whats that smell? OH sh*t! tinks has done a big DUMP on the floor!, ANN where,s the tissues and shovel?,well we will set off soon after cleaning up and finishing off our drinks to the next border. take care everyone. ann i bonz and tinks X....

ill just tell you a little about the trailer we pulling with bonz and tinks inside,i designed it myself it has a moving floor two layers on the top the croc,s and underneath is a moving tray/floor so when tinks/bonz do their toilet buisness the waste collects in the bottom and then i have a special .RED. button on top of the gear stick that when we find a quiet part of a road i PRESS and all the sh*t and bits fall on the road as we drive along.its great no stopping and as long as the road is quiet no body knows.ill be back later cheers mike/ann/bonz and tinks X ..

hello everyone, right we have gone through the last border control ok and we noticed this country sells a lot of pizzas and has spaghetti trees, i think bonz and tinks are licking their chops at thought of all the pizzas.There was a slight incident on the road after a few miles back we started to climb this long upward bending mountain road, we had gone a good few miles with the ice-cream van staining away slowly when i saw in the rear view mirror a red open topped FERRARI behind, there was a guy and girl both with sunglasses and all teeth posing in the car.Well he tried to overtake but as he did someone coming the other way made him get behind again, So this was going on for few miles so i think he got a bit inpatient because he started to blare his horn and screaming funny words and was revving his engine.well he was upsetting ann/bonz and tinks and im not having that! so i let him past on a bit of a straight road he blares his horn does a two finger salute and speeds off into the distance.WE drove some miles and were feeling a bit peckish when i spotted a pizza palour so we pulled in, as we got out i spy the the red FERRARI from before parked behind us a bit away. ann and i go inside and the couple are posing all teeth and gold charms and sun glasses and fake tan. i order a pizza for ann she has a ham and cheese and i have a chicken and sweetcorn and two nice big classes of cool coke with lots of ice,we have a nice meal but then the posing couple start talking to the waitress (a very nice girl who served us} like piece of rubbish and she,s very nearly in tears poor girl and the other customers are feeling a bit sorry for her as well.Anyway we finished our meal and we order two take way pizzas for bonz and tinks both cheese and tomato, so we feed the pets and we get back into the van and i reverse back a bit and then i PRESS the .RED. button by mistake and OH DEAR all the sh*t and bits falls into the red opened topped £180 thousand pound FERRARI!. And we drive off sharpish as we pass the windows of the pizza parlour everyone is clapping

Ah - The Duchess of Atholl ! That was the loco with my first train set. Hornby Dublo 3 rail. Built up a big layout when I was at school. Flogged the lot a few years after to go to Switzerland skiing. IDIOT ! Worth big money now if still with original boxes and in good condition. Ho-hum. Thanks Mike.

And yes tombraider a cafe is again on the build list as i try to start something i get sidetracked a bit,ive still got a few more idea,s yet sometime,s to many!.As i build the railway i also like to share with the people of {if interested ?} wirral and beyond a little bit of my family history, like septimus {blacksmith} my great uncle so some of the figures that will come onto the m.a.r railway have some meaning to me. im afraid the main bus stop is outside the train station as with the layout being 1/24th scale there is not enough room for a bus terminus,unless i extend the railway another 5 feet at least? no can do, foot down planning officer!. And no the rail fares are not going up!, its only a £1.00 a journey cheap all day. I will be looking in the future for another bus a double decker?,

Yes i got the grass for £1.50 with a load of others in a paper bag from the big second hand store next to T.R.F.C on a sunday morning a few months back. The top of the tunnel has a t.v cardboard box layer and then a layer of polystyrene blocks from the t.v box,then a layer of the wirral globes stuck down with wall paper paste. There was a bit more damage to the railcar than i thought MR vin diesel the driver and seat fell out, a child with her mother fell out,the front windscreen frame fell out what a mess! fix it tomorrow?. SORRY, no windows in the tunnel railway tunnels dont have windows, the vehicle,s are the right scale 1/24th the reason the vehicles look bigger than the trains is.They are narrow gauge which are smaller then standard gauge trains,and as for the animals getting up there i am putting a landscape back drop behind the tunnel with fields etc.

hi tombraider/everyone, no ive just not done any building this week as i was waiting for the results from the m.r.i scans i had over the last few weeks.Anyway i got the results yesterday and the good news is ive had no new strokes which i thought i was having, but the bad headaches and the tiredness etc i,am having is due to a 20p size hole left in {left side from the stroke in december} my brain. So a few more marbles gone. Ah well i will get back into the m.a.r railway building project and mad stories?soon and Ann helping me/putting up with me! she is the best!.

hi tombraider/everyone, on tuesday 20th this week i got my m.r.i scan results because ive been having these really bad headaches and bad dizzy spells and slurred speech attacks these past months.I thought i was having another stroke? but the consultant said NO your having these attacks because you have a 20p size hole in the left side brain!, nothing they can do about it just put up with it.SO with me having episodes of bad concentration etc, a smaller layout was easier for me. But if i dont sell? the m.a.r railway i will re,do the m.a.r but on a smaller size baseboard. So at the moment i,ll build bert,s and mandy,s gold mine for now.cheers take care everyone mike...an..x.

HI, today ive managed to build the small baseboard for the 1/12th scale, 7 1/4" gauge layout and ive also made a new lighter smaller baseboard for the m.a.r railway in 1/24th scale 15" gauge layout. With both layouts being lighter and smaller makes it a bit easier for me to move about and concentrate on...OH last i heard was TWO jet fighters where scrambled from r.a.f anglesey to intercept an unknown bogie? flying over the wirral. On the radar screen the radar operator said it looks like a GIANT pair of knickers?.Wonder where she,s going?????!!.take care all mike...ann..x..

Hello folks, As it was a nice day i didn,t do much of the mine, me and ann walked up to oxton village. There is a small charity shop i managed to get another figure a ladder and a piece of stone wall all for the 1/12th scale mine, and i was,nt even looking for items. Ive just started to recycle the tunnels for the mine from the m.a.r railway. They will still be called ROBBO,S TUNNELS, like as before.cheers for now mike...ann..x..

HI, its ok bri445 your right it is dr wilson from a dr who series about the second world war, what i remember is the kid with the gas mask saying "are you my mummy"!. Yes the model making is pretty good so life like! just glad MAD martha {alien} thunder knickers is not life like!!?, "NEWS FLASH" tunnel police comfirmed tonight that a woman answering to the description of MAD martha! was seen on camera blasting down the birkenhead tunnel at 80 m.p.h heading towards liverpool. The camera operator MR t booth, said i nearly fainted! there,s this woman with big knickers flying like a jet fighter with a big flame coming out of her arse down the tunnel AND she never even PAID THE FARE!, it put the wind up me i can tell you!. A tunnel police spokesman said IF SHE come,s back down the wallasey tunnel SHE can pay TWICE!. choo choo for noo mike..ann..x..

What shade/type paint do you use for weathering? Do you thin it at all? It's going to look good when it's finished Mike. Keep up the good work.
HI pinz the paint i used on the landy was grey car primer which i got about 2 years ago found in the loft, also used a bit of a indelible ink pen, and the other paints i use on my models is acrilyic paints sometimes thinned down. Anyway LARA,s legs have been bent a bit better to fit on the mine loco,i stuck her in boiling water bent the legs then when i got the shape right under the cold tap and hey presto she ready to sit down {nice}.

ON THE NEWS today, the police £13,000 drone fell into the river mersey? {yeh right} its actually a police cover up story!, the real reason it was lost!. IT was MAD martha thunder knickers?!. the police noticed an unexplained bogie hovering in the sky above the river mersey last night, so to save money sending the helicopter to look they sent the drone instead well thunder knickers saw it sort of LAUGHED! horribly then sucked into her horrible hole/knickers { the fiend } then she chewed it for a bit then spat it out!. It was just to much WIND for the poor small plastic drone { £49.99 NOT £13,000 AND made in hong kong from toys.r.us } and it hit the water never to be seen again!.And then MAD martha flew off towards new brighton with a big jet flame coming out of her arse at a frightening speed. A toys.r.us shop spokesperson said we are out of stock of the plastic drones and we are not getting any more now till christmas!.

Hello folks, me and ann went to ellesmere port today and i got some peco flxi-track OO gauge 4 pieces, and ann kindly bought me a build it your-self 1/24th scale model volkswagen camper van. Just need the base boards soon. OH i noticed as we walked around e/port that there where lots of discarded asda shopping trolleys every where you looked that the local youths/vandals must have messed about with then left them?. So does that class e/port as a shopping city???. WELL hello from wikiwood, picture the scene, Above the wirral tonight a guy in a red suit with reindeer flying across the night sky over the wirral delivering presents to all the children. There he,s is minding his own buisness flying along with christmas joy in his heart when closing in fast on his tail is an unidentified object!, OH NO its MAD martha tattyknickers!! she,s been hiding as a three car train sitting in a siding at bidston station waiting for the right moment to strike fear into the good people of wikiwirral!.MAD martha wanted to seek revenge for all the ill,s that has happened to her over this past year, so attacking santa was the right moment! well anyway there she is closing in fast on poor old santa! but luckly enough ruddolf the front boss reindeer spotted MAD martha tattyknickers and before she opened her machine guns he inflated his big red magic nose and the bullets bounced off!.And as she over shot santa MAD martha tattyknickers but she did not notice a small unidentified hand closing in fast on her!YES it was HANDY ANDY MK.1 come to save santa HURRAH!. Well ANDY let rip a short burst of machine gun bullets which caught MAD martha tattyknickers down the a seam of her knickers! good shot shouted santa thank goodness DR FRANKINSTINE sent you to help me!.MAD martha tattyknickers managed to pull herself together and fired a rocket into poor HANDY ANDY MK.1 and he spun off, then turned around again and started flying towards poor old santa and just as she was about to suck santa and the reindeers into her horrible hole SHE got a RIGHT GOOD SLAP on her left cheek from HANDY ANDY MK.1 who managed to regain himself after the nasty rocket attack! good job he had metal fingers!. Well MAD martha tattyknickers was knocked across the sky about 80 mile,s to be exact! with the equivalent force of a 1 ton slap from ANDY MK.1 HURRAH!.So santa and HANDY ANDY MK.1 flew side by side congratulating each other on a job well done WHEN a furious [ and i mean furious] MAD martha tattyknickers come screaming down on them both with all guns and rockets blazing!. What a palavour is this the END? for good old SANTA?! HELL NO! MAD martha tattyknickers misjudged the firing range and her bullets and rockets over shot and missed santa HURRAH!. And as MAD martha tattyknickers the alien frilly bandit flew underneath the sleigh and reindeers ruddolf and the other reindeers dropped their sh*t bombs and wee wee onto MAD martha! it went all in her hair and down her face and in her knickers [no way she will get these stains OUT] it bloody STUNK!.In the mean time HANDY ANDY MK.1 shot up towards outer space to so he could come back down with speed to give MAD martha the final killer slap but as he got into outer space his battery ran out [ it was a cheap one £1.00, from bargainland cut backs you see ]so HANDY ANDY MK.1 could not get back down to earth! he,s still up there waving! OH NO. Well as MAD martha wiped the sh*t from her eye,s and with rage she musted all her strength in one final swoop on poor old santa closing in fast and with the horrible hole opening up santa threw a christmas present into her horrible hole!, WELL what happened next she stopped suddenly sort of moaned and exploded into a thousand bits!. The christmas present santa threw into MAD martha was FULL of christmas joy, cheer, love ,happiness , goodness , peace all nice christmas things and with MAD martha tattyknickers being an evil madam it killed her stone dead HURRAH HURRAH HURRAH !!. AND happily santa will finish delivering all the childrens presents tonight!. Down at the SIR wiki knight pub last night the wiki police
where called to a disturbance!?. A customer a MR DRINKITT told the officers PC KATCHIM and WPC KATCHER who attended, he was assaulted by the landlady MRS BOOSE with her 12" yellow RUBBER TRUNCHEON! for not drinking fast enough at last orders HE said! he heard a funny BUZZING sound then felt a BANG to the back of the head which caused him to see stars and flake out. But when the police officers
questioned her she said MR DRINKITT was drinking a new beer they had just put on tap called BUCK-A-ROO and it was probably that? which gave him a kick to his head at 70% alcohol volume IT probably WOULD?!. So with no witnesses at the bar and the few people who where left also nursing bangs to their heads! NO further action was taken against MRS BOOZE. Cheers for noooo..x.

Hello everyone, here is a bit more for the "T bag mine" ive laid the track for the "sugar mine" factory plant next door to the "T bag mine". Ive made a battery loco to take the sugar in and out just got to make the wagons to go behind it.

HI Pinz, good to hear from you hope your well,now the walls of the pump house is foam board and ive sprayed it with my favourite plasti-kote stone paint. Bloody foreign tea (it tastes like muck and also makes you light headed) thats why MR brew has decided to take on the competition by his own mines and also the sugar giants and milk bosses, But at the moment MR chuff has stolen three of MR brews points/switchers for his garden layout so the track laying for the mines has grind to a halt.

Hi all, Sorry ive not been putting up any more pictures of the building progress of EL-CHEAPO village. It,s just we have now moved to the posh part of the Wirral west Kirby, and at the moment with going from a spare 2 bedroomed flat to a 1 bedroomed bungalow so NO space everything is in boxes. I will have to find either put it in the loft or shed the garden..I, have to do it soon as the boxes are getting hot with the loco,s inside and the little people screaming from inside the boxes "saying let us OUT" and its keeping me and the wife awake at night.

As for the sunflowers we got the very small plants off our next door neighbour its the first time me and ann have a nice garden for growing flowers. Hi pinz, yes ive used real stone,s in a crate just like they did in the old west. I also used the last little bits of roofing felt left over from the WIKI KIRBY station job. As for the water quality here in west kirby ? i think its hard water? (so ive been told by the local natives). Eh if it blocks up me tubes eh i will tie a brush on a rope and pull it like hell through me tubes OW (painful)

Hi Dilly everyone, Sorry ive not been in touch for a while
but i have had to give the Wiki Wirral garden railway up!
. As even five years down the line after my stoke i now find that i have a paralyzed left chest diaphragm and the right one is not too good and i can not bend down to do the garden railway anymore. Last year it took all that time to get to some sort of railway line up and running plus it made me so tied. BUT im not giving up just yet SO ive changed scale to double OO gauge instead
, so over the last few months i have been collecting OO gauge items i even managed to swop the garden gauge stuff for a decent amount of double OO items PLUS cash (thanks paul new brighton model shop)
. So this OO track is going out of the shed on planks of wood 3 feet of the ground (so no bending plus lighter rolling stock etc to pick up) then around the garden then back in the other side of the shed !
So thats whats is going on at the moment. Take care all see you soon X

That's a Mallard Pinz, not a Sir Nigel Gresley. The guard over the front bogie is different on the Mallard, it covers the whole of the 4 wheels, where the one on the Sir Nigel Gresley is sort of split :-)
