CLATTERBRIDGE Centre for Oncology is appealing for volunteers to help run its massage service.

The service is part of an initiative to promote wellbeing and relaxation among cancer patients.

Volunteers undergo specialist training in simple massage techniques suitable for people receiving treatment at the centre.

Volunteers should have up to four hours to spare during the day. If you can help call volunteer co-ordinator Alison Bell on 334 1155, extension 4864.

I don't understand why CCO Trust needs volunteers when they have money freely-flowing from their ears!!!
Every year they do very nicely thank you from cancer research monies.
I just wonder what the CE is spending the money on - ok apart from a new LinAcc recently.

Sorry - rant over.

Why not pay for professionals, but on a pro-rata rate? Other health boards do this. Insurance companies are wary of insuring volunteers without the proper credential, professionals are already covered. They are not allowed, however, under their insurance, to treat people with cancer: perhaps this is why volunteers are needed, they would probably be oblivious to this. Do you know if the cancer patients sign indemnity statements?
