I am trying to install a new copy of office 2016 for a Windows PC.
It downloads and installs okay but no program will load without crashing.
I have tried uninstalling and trying again but to no avail.
I believe the Mac versions are having the same problems.
Any thoughts please..
This shouldn't happen in modern times, were always the testers with these products.
They used to say, disable your anti virus while installing but Microsoft should do better.
After your uninstall try a reboot.
It should detect x32 bit or x64 bit versions so double check them.
What version of Windows is it??
If you have any previous versions of office installed you have to un-install them first and reboot before installing 2016.
Yes, I took off Office 2010 but still had the same crashes.
Ive had take off office 2016 and put 2010 back on again.
Maybe MS will realise there is problem on Windows as well Apple Macs. They've released a fix update for Apple yesterday. Tomorrow for Windows, maybe...
They had this problem recurring throughout beta testing and with the preview editions, they are total numbskulls for releasing it without it being resolved, I guess they over-commited themselves to the Sep 22nd release date.
Get Open Office instead. It's free and will be compatible with all of your documents:

But they've already paid for office 2016...
After a Quick Google
click me At least Microsoft is contributing to it.
Good find Mark.
At least MS are acknowledging a problem but are just passing buck onto us the user by getting us to problem solve it for them by performing various lengthy procedures. When you pay upwards of £300 for software you expect it work out of the box as it were.
I've reinstalled 2010 version but wanted the later one as it looks fresh and modern and should work better.
I am going to give 2016 another try but will wait until all the bugs have been swatted.
Software is definitely released far to early.
My rule of thumb years ago was wait for version x.01
I know those days are gone, but you would go mad with say a car stereo that didn't work after paying £300
Sympathies mate.
Any chance of a refund??
No worries Mark.
The version I have is for one PC only and has been linked already. It will work eventually when MS relises there is a problem and release an update to fix it.
It is better to wait for 0.1 versions come out and not jump in straight after product releases.
I will persevere with this and keep you updated and this will help others who maybe having the same problems with both office 2016 and 2013
Working OK here on Windows 10 so I'm not sure what to say.
