RF out should go to your TV if your not using HDMI.

There is an RF2 out which would be used for your connection upstairs.

RF in comes from the box in the loft I would say. As the main areial could be plumbed in up there.

Old booster boxes are not always compatible with RF2 and the magic eye as they carry a voltage. New booster boxes have a dedicated port for sky connections.

Not sure if that helps.

Update.
You say no aerial to the Tv.
So im guessing your HDMI is to your TV.

So you can use RF out to the booster box.

RF in from the aerial outside.

There are a few ways to do it, and the method to do it can depend on the layout and access.

No help now but always take a photograph or a bit of masking tape with a note ie RF out etc.
