Just bought a new smart tv. Wanting to connect it to the internet (I use my phone as a hotspot) and I dont have home broadband. Do I need to buy a particular type of USB adapter designed for TVs, in this case Hitachi? Or can I just use one that you'd connect to a computer to pick up a wigi signal?

Try googling the type you need for your particular TV brand

if its a smart tv, just go to wifi settings and connect to the hot spot on your phone?
if its a recent smart tv, i.e last 2 years it will have wifi built into it and you won't need to use a dongle

Thanks for the responses guys. Managed to get it sorted now. You'd think that it would have a wifi receiver in the tv. But no. According to argos who I got the tv from, I had to buy a specific dongle made by Hitachi at £44.99. Had a quick look on google and found a universal one -Veezy for £10 at Currys. So all setup and working now.
