I've just bought an external 2tb usb 3.0 hard drive (£69 at Maplins) which seems to be what the latest external hard drives are becoming .
It works at the usb 2.0 speeds for copying and pasting etc but can I get a usb 3.0 card/gadget that will work on my pc which has only got ordinary pci slots (giving me the 10 x faster transfer rate)

Derek you have a laptop don't you?

If so, then it's not worth the expense.

If it's a desktop PC

If it's a laptop with one of those express slots in the side, then Medion do two port socket that slips in the express slot, I got mine from ALDI for just under £6 (I think Medion is a 'badge' name that ALDI use).

As far as I can tell looking at the usb ports none of my computers
desktop or laptops show the blue part of the usb and the pci slots are not pci express just the older ones.
So I think I'm stuck at the usb2.0 speed until I eventually upgrade to a newer pc
