I have a DVD player/recorder and have only ever used it to play films, but i would like to record 4 programmes about David Bowie on tv tonight which run for about 4 1/2 hours but i do not know what type of disc i need to buy or cheapest place to buy them. I`ve searched for my machine instructions but can not find them, so hav`nt a clue what to use. Can any one advise? Thank you.

Hi Bert. The model is A Toshiba D-VR17KB DVD/CASSETTE Recorder.

Thanks Bert. I think it must be a DVD-RW but still not sure!If it fails i can allways try again with a vhs tape as they usually do repeats on BBC4. I can`t keep up with technology. My brains still stuck in 1980!

dvd-rw just means you can re-use the disc i.e write over the contents,
dvd-r or dvd+ means you can only write on them once,

It says in the manual that you can use both DVD-R and DVD+R

DVD-R

Are more compatible with other devices as a rule of thumb.
So if you changed your player / recorder you should have a better chance of playing the disk back again.

Think DVD-R as Your VHS
And your DVD+R as your Betamax (how old lol)

As stated RW = Rewritable you can record over.
