hi last year i bought a samsung 3D tv model number: ps50c680g5k and mainly been using it to watch dvd's or for the playstation but now decided i want to watch freeview tv on it.

can anyone tell me if this has freeview built in? as i bought an indoor aerial the other day plugged it in and used the auto search option on tv but nothing at all come through just a plain black screen at all times.

so wondering does it even have the freeview built in or do i need to buy an external freeview box and plug the indoor aerial into that?

Yes, it does have freeview.
Have you gone through the menu & set up the country, antenna source etc. If you have done this you probably require a better aerial.

hi raven yes it is set to the uk and i think there was only 2 options for antenna source cable or air? i think. i thought that even if it was a bad aerial for the area that it would at least pick up some channels even if they were all fuzy, but theres no sign of anything at all.

Digital TV doesn't work like that, if the signal through the aerial isn't strong enough you just get a blank screen[usually blue].

interesting what you say about the blue, as there isnt even a freeview interface coming up on the telly, i,e freeview menu or if you go on the channel list it says none available (press ok to start auto tune)

Have you not got the Instruction Manuals if not D/L here-> Instruction Manuals for Samsung PS50C680G5K
I download it and did a PDF search for Freeview it found no instances of that word, maybe it refers to Freeview by another name

Make sure the Source is set to TV. Go to Menu/Set Up/ Plug and play (initial set up) enter pin (0000 or your own) the follow on screen instructions.

Also make sure you are searching for Digital channels not Analogue ones.

Yeah the source you need to be on is now often 'DTV' rather than just TV

You won't get the TV guide/station list until the TV is tuned.

I think your problem is with the indoor aerial, not the TV.

For DTTV a high gain, external aerial is preferable to an indoor aerial. That beng said have the aerial as close to the window as you can get it and, if possible, when tuning have the window open.

If it's an amplified aerial you also need to make sure it is plugged in and switched on.
