First of all you'll need a dual LNB to run two dishes (or a quad if one has Sky+)

The alternative is to fit another dish.

Without any subscription or card you will get VERY limited channels, you won't even get Channel 5, however you can buy a card from Sky (it used to be about £20), which will give you all the Freeview/Free to Air channels, this is a one-off payment.

If you want the same channels that your mum has than you could always run a Co-ax (aerial lead) from the back of her Sky box to your room, if you then bought a Magic Eye (about a tenner) you can control the box from your room.

You will only be able to watch the same channel on both sets if you do it this way, so if she is watching Corrie, so are you, and if you are watching what you want, it's on her TV as well smile

No

The co-ax from her aerial socket on the Sky box will go straight into your TV, you can't connect it to another Sky box it doesn't work that way.

If you want to run another box you need to connect it to the LNB on the satellite dish, if she has Sky + it'll be a dual (but she needs both) however a lot of fitters put quads up (so there would be two spare) to save them changing it for customers who wanted a multi-room deal.

You'll need to go up a ladder (or whatever, your risk) and have a look at the LNB which is the bit on the end of the arm sticking out of the dish. If it has two aerials going onto two connectors, that's it, you're stuffed, you need to replace it. If it has two spare threaded connectors you need to connect one to a cable and the other into your box. If you don't know how to do this then put a shout out I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you.

Or you could persuade your mum to upgrade to multiroom for about £10 extra a month and have the same package as her but completely independently, i.e. you would be able to watch different channels.
