I've had a freecom for a few years, ultra reliable, few software bugs when used with ethernet port, but works 100% on USB (it is a mains powered one).

I'd be tempted to buy a drive and caddy separately now, can't really explain why, just a gut feeling.

I need to get about 5 1tb drives, but they have to have there own power supplys, as they will be plugged into usb hub.
But untill i earnmore from my surveys 1 will do for now.

Just bear in mind if they are plugged into a hub you'll be destroying transfer speeds on them. Which means you may not be able to stream some stuff (movies for example) without noticable lag.
