Help me out with a Toshiba A100-920 - 10th Jun 2011 8:39am
Well, it's been a while, but I've come into contact with the dreaded Windows!!!!!
I've been asked to take a look at an old Tosh (how apt) laptop for the tennis club, it was failing to boot and being a general nightmare.
I forced it to boot from CD and did a fresh install of XP Pro and that was fine. But the issue now is that I can't connect to the wireless and I can't connect using a hard wired ethernet cable, the drivers aren't there.
I've searched high and low for them, and tried the Toshiba website too, I downloaded what I thought I needed but no such luck. Ideally, as I'm now in the office, a getting the wifi up and running is a priority as I have Driver Genius Pro and Driver Checker which scans the laptop and downloads and updates what is needed etc.
Vicious circle though, as I can't get onto the internet to do it in the first place!
I used to consider myself quite computer savvy on Windows back in the day but I've used Macs now for about 8 years I reckon and this is the first time I've had to try and work on one.
Last time I used a Windows PC, XP was new! So probably back in 2002?
It's Windows XP Pro SP3 and the laptop specs are;
Intel Core 2 / T5500 @ 1.66GHz / 1GB of ram.
See attached screenshot, if it helps? It shows what I'm missing.
If anyone can help me out today, so I can get this laptop back to them tonight it would be much appreciated.
Cheers
