Good old QB45, used it loads, quick and dirty, excellent debugging. Still proud to have my very own legit QB45 licence even though it has been released to the public domain.

Remember playing the 'monkey throwing bananas' game and 'snake' in CGA four colours in college! I went on work experience and my mate had programmed some amazing looking game in it. He became a painter and decorator, but he could program in his sleep, he learnt all the tricks in a week.
