Right guy's, the dicks at TUTV have thrown the latest release (v4.07) on air, again, neglecting to take any notice of the development team (im a member).

There has been 3 notable bugs found in the latest release during our testing period. One of the bugs is pretty rediculous, because it is acknowledged by the senior management that there is an issue with recording programmes/missed recoring. I've been running v3.59 on my normal box and v4.06/v4.07 on my latest dev box, and v4.07 has been about 65% reliable at recording, whereas the v3.59 has been pretty much spot on.

They do believe this could be a box-by-box thing, some boxes will suffer regular missed recordings, others will be fine.

Other bugs are the video on demand recording does not always work as it should, though they are implementing a work-around in the EPG data (on both the TUTV 14 day EPG, and the Freeview+ EPG) to combat this problem, and the final major bug, is some boxes won't come out of standby after pro-longed periods, they simply crash and you have to restart them. You may also notice some "glitching" on this release (breaking up picture and/or sound on recorded programmes) which I have not had on my dev box, but must be seriously annoying.

If your box downloads the new update and you have problems, you can do a software revert to v3.59 by doing the following:

A. Press Menu
B. Press 4
C. Press 6
D. Press Green
E. Press Yellow
F. Press Green
G. The DTR should install the second code image (in this case 3.59) and then reboot.

And normal service will be resumed!

To be honest, there is minimal changes in the latest update, and the entire development team a pretty pi$$ed off lately, because they keep releasing updates no matter how many bugs/niggles we find, without addressing them first.

The major difference in this release, is the support for the brand new Betfair TV gambling system. Make of that what you will... It was supposed to build upon the reliability of the v3.31 - v3.59 builds, but alas, they seem to have taken a step backwards in some regards, on some boxes.

Currently testing another new revision (4.09), which addresses further niggles raised from 4.07, so watch this space. Don't expect the current test version or the next one to be released, but maybe the one after that.

I am pleased to say it appears to be more stable than 4.07 (which seems to be hit and miss, some boxes love it, other boxes dont).

ETA for next public update is 1 - 2 months.

Without wanting to divulge too much, it's looking increasingly likely that we may have a new build out before the Christmas lockdown with some nice new features and more improvements on existing features and stability. It also has some improvements to remedy some recently discovered DSO issues. Will confirm this as soon as possible, won't be for a few weeks however.

Been working on (and been hammered by, in the early days) the new build for quite some months now and it's almost ready.
