Models known to be affected by the change are the Daewoo DS608P, Labgear DTT100, Triax DVB 2000T, Portland DP100, Daewoo SV900 and Bush IDVCR01.

"It has been necessary to carry out some network enhancements in the Sutton Coldfield transmitter region," Freeview said a statement. "Unfortunately, as a result, some older digital boxes being used in Freeview homes in Birmingham and other parts of the Midlands will stop working.

"In 2002 when Freeview launched there were around 30 TV channels," said a statement. "Since then DMOL, the body which manages the digital terrestrial platform, has made ongoing enhancements to the infrastructure to provide the data and information needed for Freeview’s interactive services, digital radio stations and extra channels (now 40+).

I wonder if Ofcom and the government, who are forcing people to go digital remember, will have the decency to replace the boxes of anyone affected... not likely!

Funny how the rest of the country isnt having to do this; Freeview is a con through and through, everyone will have to change their boxes again when the inevitable change to H.264 arrives in a few years.

As the bills mount up for people in the UK, this is just another little VAT scam and bill for many people in the West Midlands!
