check the advanced section?
Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 24th Oct 2007 12:20pm
nope, not made any difference
Posted By: Mark Re: need help. Javascript - 24th Oct 2007 12:55pm
Possibly a fire wall issue.

Check FF for updates,
Clear your cookies and Temp Files.
Close all browser windows after any changes.

And re-launch FF wink

Try each step one at a time.

Flash player
did it pass the on screen test when you installed it?
Or should i say installed its self?

post a link to one of the pages your seeing the error
and we can cross check that its not a glitch with the link.

Posted By: SoundLad Re: need help. Javascript - 24th Oct 2007 4:42pm
Woohoo smile someone with a same problem i had but with IE urghhh as i used Firefox i didnt have that problem but seems you do.. The work around goes like this uninstall and delete the Adobe Flash addon from both Browsers IE and Firefox next uninstall Java Script completly.. Reboot.. Next goto java and download the latest runtime version then finally goto Youtube and download the Flash addon.. Then the problem should be solved if that doesnt solve the problem youve either messed up an ActiveX setting in your broweser in which case uninstalling Firefox and downloading the latest version and reinstalling will solve the problem.. hope that helped smile

Did you Reboot after the uninstall.
As you could have clingers on you see.

Its important with web browsers to also close all internet browsers
windows between add on install and un-installs. As its the re-launch of the program that loads up the addons i.e. flash.

I think something is corrupt mate.
Or a firewall / antivirus software has it tagged for the wrong
reasons, or the Java.

2 Issuses

1. Java ??
2 or Flash

Wheels can you see the moving demo at the flash site ?
or can you see the embedded video's on wiki?
If so then it has to be down to java wink
Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 5:39pm
yeah if someone embeds it i can see it, but if i try to watch one directly on youtube i cant frown
Posted By: Mark Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 7:01pm
Okay so its the Java Script that's the issue then wink

Check your control panel / add remove programs
and just check if there is anything like "java TM"
in the list and un-install it.

Then re-boot
and then when online again visit you tube again.

If you need to re-install "Java" you can get it here
http://www.java.com/en/download/index.jsp

Java & Java Script are 2 completely different things but
easy to get mixed up with.

Your browsers would use "Java Script" Normally to
process webpages.

Ive mentioned them as you have un-installed FF etc

Also

In Fire Fox Options click "options" then "Content"
And click on the Block Popup windows

Make sure "youtube" isnt in that list.

I'm thinking also if you have any independent popupblockers
need to also be checked.
Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 7:14pm
just tried that and still no joy, deleted firefox and uninstall ed java. rebooted downloaded firefox and java and its still the same, checked firewall, NO JOY frown damn it!
Posted By: Mark Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 7:50pm
is it too far down the line to do a system restore ?
Back to before the problem began ?

are you using xp ?
Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 8:16pm

Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 9:24pm

thats just greeeeeeeeeeaaaaat! mad
Posted By: Mark Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 9:27pm
Are you using XP or Vista ?
Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 9:28pm
XP
Posted By: BMW Joe Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 9:28pm
if you get firefox working, try this....

1. Open Firefox.

2. On the Tools menu, click Options.

3. Click Content in the Options list.

4. Under the Content section, check the box next to Enable JavaScript.

5. Click the Advanced button to open the Advanced JavaScript
Options box.

6. Check the boxes under Allow scripts to section that you want
to allow.
I have boxes 1 and 3 from the top checked.

7. Click OK.

8. Click OK.

If you are still receiving the JavaScript error when you have it enabled, you should try completely uninstalling the Flash Player, and then reinstalling the most recent version.

For instructions about how to "completely" uninstall a Flash Player, see this Adobe Help article (http://www.adobe.com/cfusion/knowledgebase/index.cfm?id=tn_14157).

If you don't have a Flash player installed or you have just uninstalled the Flash player, download and install the latest Adobe Flash Player, which is available at the Adobe Flash Player Download Center (http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1_Prod_Version=ShockwaveFlash).

If you have tried both of those steps above are still having issues playing videos, try clearing the browser cache and cookies on your computer.

That might be the only bit of luck you have.
It being xp and not vista.

Okay FF wont load
can you check to see if you can see the vids on yt in IE ?
or if you still get the warning.

Were now working out if its a browser issue
we can install fire fox again later
Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 9:32pm
nope, wont work in IE
Posted By: Mark Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 10:08pm
Okay if you can

Go back to the time before the problem began. (Restore)
See if Fire Fox Works
If not - Un install it
Re-boot
Install it again
and then check link on yu tube.

I know you my already have gone back in time
just wanted to check you have followed the steps.

Joe's list above seems pretty comprehensive
you tried that ?
Posted By: MattLFC Re: need help. Javascript - 25th Oct 2007 10:19pm
Un-installing the browsers wont work, people need to stop jumping the gun and read the thread, theres a lot of duplicate posting going on with suggestions for things he's already tried... I know how much of a pain it can be when you are looking for help and are getting different people suggesting things that were suggested hours/days ago because they havent followed the thread.

Id say its probably a corrput registry for the java/flash installation, the only way to rectify it would be to go through the registry/hard drive and delete absolutely everything to do with the applications, and then re-install them both.

Also, if there is anything wrong with JVM then it can cause no end of problems, the way to combat this is usually to force summit heavy onto the OS like a removal of SP2 and then a re-install of it. Time consuming, but barring that, its probably an OS reload unless ye want to pay an MCSE qualified technician to fix it, would probably solve it in minutes lol.

BTW, I think JVM is now (or soon to be) EOL cos of the monopoly shite so im not sure if Microsoft will offer support with it now but as its a core element of the NT5 OS, they may do? Have you tried contacting Microsoft about the problem, if not, you should, provided you have a legal version of XP, their support teams are actually extremely good and very knowledgeable.

Wheels are you up to date with windows updates ?

Posted By: Wheels Re: need help. Javascript - 26th Oct 2007 8:07am
yeh it is up to date, the restore took a while and then the laptop took ages just to do simple things, i lost me rag and turned it off for the night. how to i delete SP2? can i got to control panel and add/remov e programs?
Posted By: Mark Re: need help. Javascript - 26th Oct 2007 9:52am
If you manage to un install sp2 i guess your system
will be in a hell of a mess, so for now that's got to
be a last resort one step away from a full reinstall.

Have you turned off all Popupblockers?
Disabled the fire walls?

My guess is that you tube just isnt knowing that the
java script is turned on, that's all.

You need java script to login to these forums and that works
for you, and i guess other sites work fine for you too.

So my thinking is that youtube can not detect if java script
is enabled or not, and it cant do that if the site has a block
on it, some how frown

Dont do any sp2 stuff just yet.
