I use to be wiv pipex but they have started to have slow connections an traffics etc so they wernt that fast as they use to be. Example wen am downloading something some times it goes to 20kb

Am with a company called vivacity nw an everything is running fine. Getting 3/4mbs even tho its a 8mb broadband package but apart from gettin half the speed its not bad for £20 a month. Use to pay £23 sumthin for 1mb connection wiv pipex!!!! how mch of a rip off is that.

In the good old days of dial up, I started off with Freeserve (yeah, remember them? lol). They were good, but they did have their fair share of problems. I then moved to One.Tel to get an offer on the phone line too. Then BT had better offers for internet, so I moved to BT.

These were crap, kept disconnecting and bad download upload speeds (although they were all crap back then compared to now lol) bad customer service e.t.c. So then I moved to freeola, which cost a penny a minute at peak times (what a rip). Then back to BT simply cas they offered such a rediculous deal that I couldn't refuse and the cost of freeola was too much.

Anywho, I then moved back to BT, still had a bad service and connection. Broadband then arrived, got a snazzy modem which was a nightmare to set up and got sick of having to dial into my phone line everytime I wanted to use it. Their technical support was (and still is) based in India, and were hard to understand and more than useless.

I had enough and decided to move to NTL.

The date was set for them to install and set up the line for me to use, they said an engineer would arrive anytime between 8:30am and 1pm. Expecting to wait in all day, I didn't bother getting up early. I heard a knock on the door at 8:20am and rushed to open the door. It was the engineer. The first (and probably last) time that any engineer has arrived before the time range.

I have been with them ever since.
I have never experienced a single problem apart from sorting out MAC address problems when I first got a router, but it was resolved in less than a day. Customer service was slighty hard to get hold of, but were very helpful and actually phone back when they said they would (unlike BT).

Over the years, NTL have upgraded my line serveral times to uprate my download and upload speeds as the technology became available, all at no extra costs and at no turbulance whatsoever.

Now, I download a hell of a lot of data (i.e. easily well over 100Gb a month) and have never expereinced any problems or usage limits.

I still pay £25 a month. Steep compared to some companies, but worth it. I wouldn't recommend anyone else at all, nor would I change.

Since the takeover by Virgin, I've noticed no difference. I haven't needed to call any customer support lines so unfortunately (or fortunately) I can't tell you what they are like now.

Sorry for the essay lol

I am with Tiscali, never had any problems with them untill a couple of days ago. Tried to upgrade to tiscali Max, but they had problems and lost my order. It is getting sorted now.

That's because there is no changes, and Virgin havent taken over - its still NTL Telewest running on the same old infastructure with the same customer services, just with a fancy new name and logo and load of bollox spin to try and trick the gullable public into believing its a media revolution, when in reality, they still lag far behind other companies... wink
