Did anyone go to Field road School annex. It was the corner of Field road and Rowson street. We went from Vaughan road for woodwork. I remember they had a lot of gas cookers there as well (not in woodwork classroom eek) presumably for cookery? No self respecting boy would do cookery in those days and no girls woodwork. Next door was the undertakers and if a ball went over the wall from the playground, no one really wanted to go for it due to the coffins stacked up in the yard.

I know I am old but surely not the only one to go there? Marconi did training there in later times I think?

The Wallasey Technical School was opened in 1889 and offered technical and manual instructions at senior level. After reorganisation, the school became the annexe to the new school built in Coronation Avenue. The Field Road School was used as the Commercial Department, offering bookkeeping, shorthand and typing to senior girls. When it was no longer required it was used by the Wirral College of Art.

Today flats occupy the site.
