Some good stuff on these links. It's quite interesting that these guys managed to run them with very little funds. Some pics from the old tower blocks too.

Does anybody remember any of these?

My brother was a DJ on Merseywaves for quite a while he did the sunday afternoon slot. He was never there when they got raided, once he had just left when the snoops moved in.
zee 100...remember that 1 ...every1 in school used to listen to it
Zee usually had quite a powerful output and it was on FM. Don't know if anyone still listens to MW or AM anymore. There are some good recordings on the site you can listen to. I like the ones when they are being raided and carry on broadcasting.
Not so good when you have to wait for court appearance to get vinyl back.
There was a well known local one in the early 80`s, cant remember what it was called. Had many live raids on air!!
I remember one in the mid-late 80s based on the lingham estate.
Because i was living in moreton at the time, i got the job of taking all the 'requests' round
from the girls at school!
I used to work on the lingham estate mid 80s and a few of the lads used to talk about merseywaves all the time
Commercial radio stations worry about losing listeners and ultimately advertising radio from pirate stations. Perhaps they should stay more relevant to their listeners. Radio 1 was initially heavily influenced by beginings in pirate radio.

I spent many years working the night club scene and one of the things that people found appealing was the "underground" attraction. Cream became a victim of this; once things started getting too commerical, many original customers stopped going.

Check out the MB21 tranmission gallery to view many of the commercial masts.

Radio 1 is Holm Moss: http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/holmemoss/
Our TV signals ultimately come from Winter Hill: http://tx.mb21.co.uk/gallery/winterhill/index.php

Shame none of the pirate stations had a set up like these!

Yep, there were quite a few songs that were improved by the phasing/fading on Luxembourg.

Did anyone listen to Voice of Russia to find out what our Government was going to announce in the NEXT week or so.

I used to fall asleep most nights listening to Luxemburgh 208. Used to listen to the Top 20 on a Tuesday night. Always had the best music first. I remember Kid Jensen on there, who else DJed for them? Was Noel Edmonds on there? I think Emperor Rosko was on as well.

yeh I remember listening to SCR, I lived in the block of flats in Sidney Road (Hadlow Gardens) they used to broadcast from the next block 9 /10th floor and you could see the 'wires' could be antenna? going from the varanda into the trees, I vaguely remember it being raided live on air.

There's at least 2 more people on here that used to live in Hadlow Gardens Margymoo wink
Oooooooo Im intrigued now?
SCR and Merseywaves used to move around too.

I, for my sins, once had a phone in on *my* show, whilst we were set up in the heights on the Woodchurch. We used the phonebox on salacre lane for the calls, and had 10 minutes only to take requests and stuff, with a very knackered Glyn IIRC running to and fro from the phonebox.
We watched it get raided from the bedroom window whilst playing Harry Nillsons "Cant live without you".......lol.

My theme tune was Taffys' "I love my radio", top tune of the day.

Oh, and i used the pseudonym of Rob Newman.
Weed FM used to broadcast from a boat out in Liverpool Bay or something, dont know how accurate that is but would love to of thought this was true. Legendary station all the prisoners at Walton Jail used to ring in for requests for songs!
