Do you have your original birth certificate ( Birth Parents)?

If not, any information on them?

Hi, I was adopted at the age of about one year, and I pondered the same questions as yourself. I put and advert on www.friendsreunited.co.uk after having put what little I knew about my family tree on the site. And a while later Two sisters got in touch and also put me in contact with a brother in Liverpool. If I can help you in any way PM me. I also registered on the adoption register as mentioned above, but in my case to no avail.

Most adoption records are kept by local Social Services departments, and by law they are supposed to retain them for 100 years from the date of adoption. If you were adopted in Pontypool they should have your records and you are legally entitled to view them. You will probably need to apply in writing owing to the sensitive nature of the records, so your first step should be to contact whichever Social Services Department covers Pontypool and ask them for details of how to apply to access your records.
