What was the name of the club above Cavendish Motors?
Someone I asked thought it may have been Houlihans originally.
Think there's a post somewhere on wiki - but I'm useless at
finding older posts
It was "The Lodge" at one time I think.
I recognise the name 'Cavendish Motors' but where was that?
Bottom of Cavendish St, Birkenhead - an mot station, by the police holding cells
So that's obviously a new build and there was a club above it? Before my time I think.
pic off google street view
That is the same building I think although it looks a bit different as a garage.
The only time I ever went in there was over 20 years ago at a private function.
This wirral pubs section is great.
I spent hours the other day looking through and reminiscing about all those pubs that have mostly all gone now.
Yes it is the same building, never realised that before, thanks for sharing
Looks like a new build. Any pics, anyone, of how it looked before?
As Derek said, there's a picture on here somewhere but neither of us can find it. It looked much the same, just didn't have the single story extension and the doorway.
As Croc says the building in the above pic looks like a new build but I remember it looking very much like that when it was a club.
Surely someone must have an old pic.
The Lodge in 1997
Thanks DD. It doesn't take long for the entire landscape to change does it!
And the lodge in early 70's, spot the difference!
Difference as in, it's not there???????????
and the roundabout missing, I remember that getting built.
I thought there was another building before the lodge that was burnt down, or perhaps it was just the modern building.
Never noticed the roundabout missing. I do remember there not being a roundabout there, no recollection of when it was built though. Wasn't that long ago, me being a whipper-snapper and all!
I remember seeing Bob,Bob,Bob,Bob & Bob at the Lodge a couple of times.

Formed in 1985 in Birkenhead. Did loads of gigs, Peel sessions etc then stopped gigging and recording in 1992. Reformed for a one-off gig in 2005. After that we decided to do one gig a year. We will be going into the studio at the end of October this year and a new album will be out in time for Christmas
I remember seeing Bob,Bob,Bob,Bob & Bob at the Lodge a couple of times.
I saw them play there once too.
Not on any pics - looks to be around the right time 'tho.
Only 3 Bobs & Bob - could've sworn it was 4 Bobs & Bob , time
(& beer) plays funny tricks on the mind .....
Bob,Bob,Bob,Bob and Bob?
I thought there were only four Bobs.
As in Bob,Bob,Bob and Bob not Bob,Bob,Bob,Bob and Bob.
The mind Bobbles.
Great name for a band though.
Our kid used to be the steward up there, had some good nights when home on leave, a good place for local groups if i remember rightly. He still talks of it with affection, I think he regretted it closing. I've still got a tape somewhere of one of the gigs in there, can't remember the name of the group but he used to do a spot in his act talking Russian.
