Hi

Anyone know anything about Wethersfield House in Noctorum?

It appears to be stuck in the middle of redevelopment, that has possibly ground to a halt due to recession. I happened to notice it one day while driving along Carr Bridge Rd on the Woodchurch estate. It is quite prominent up on the hill, sitting to the left just over Ridgeway School. All the windows are boarded up.

I wondered if anyone had any history on it e.g. who built it and when. I found it on 1899 map but think it pre-dates this, but no earlier than 1876.

Thanks.

Has it gone quiet on this site??
I did a couple of breakdown there last year, thurt it would all be done now!
Its a beautiful building, and the stable block conversion was looking well under way then

They're about to start up again soon. I did a feasibility study/valuation for bank lending purposes on behalf of the developer a month or so ago.

Stable block conversion is sold subject to planning and commencement of work on the house.

See link that Bert kindly posted.

Hi, I lived in a flat in the main house for 21 years and my grandparents lived in the lodge for 30+ years. It was a beautiful (but very cold lol) house to live, a great place with vast grounds to have adventures in as a child. It broke my Nan's heart when she retired and had to leave, the company that owned it sold the grounds not long after possibly 2002. Whilst restoring the house is great, its sad to see the lodge and the grounds being over developed. The lodge is now 3/4 houses (?) and extra houses being built on the lawns. I know it will be done sympathetically but its openess was just part of Wethersfield's charm.
