Or ask Google,

Egremont Pier was rammed by the tanker "Empire Commander" on 21st May 1932 and repaired at a cost of £7340. In 1941 another collision took place when the coaster "Newlands" rammed the pier which was dismantled in 1941.

British Commander was a single-screw oil tanker built for the British Tanker Co at the Caledon Shipbuilding & Engineering yard, Dundee, and was launched on 11th July 1922.

She met her end during the War when she was intercepted by the German surface raider Pinguin south of Madagascar on 27th August 1940. The crew of 46 were taken prisoner and the tanker was sunk by gunfire.

Footage of the collision with Egremont Pier can be seen on the British Pathe website.
