I'm trying to find out where Atherton St Birkenhead was in the 1880s/1890s. From what I can find in the census records it was only short - 5 houses, a contractors yard and and a music hall. I'm thinking that this may have been the famous Claughton Music Hall which would put it in the Claughton Road/Grange Road area. Can anyone confirm or put me right? Thanks.
map
had a friend who lived there Tony Brabander 50s(not sure of spelling)
Great map, particularly with it showing the house numbers.
Tony Brabander I remember him well, just as an opening if I said planes, would understand????
this map is must be before 1960 as it shows the bombed field at Bright st,who could jump the furthest from Claughton rd end to the Bright st end over the 6foot sloping drop

Wasn't there a gents lavatory - possibly in the wall where Yates's is now
Is that Oak and Eldon in the top right

In the ladies lav wonder what the high windows are doing there
poss part of the house next door or a room for a toilet attendant (that's if they had them then)to store cleaning gear or just to let light in
Made up with all the responses - much more info than I could possibly have hoped for. Thanks to you all.
