Hello, would anyone have any information on the WW2 anti aircraft searchlights that were stationed in Saughall Massie ? I have been talking to an old friend who lives in the area about these. The generators for the lights were in the village and the cables for the lights ran down over the brook to the lights which were stationed were the Kingfisher estate is now. These lights were for use with the anti aircraft guns that were stationed on Heron Road. I have been given this info by someone who remembers it first hand, I am particularly interested in the lights but any information would be great !
Cheers Chris. smile

If the site is known then it will be on the defence of Britain database, http://ads.ahds.ac.uk/catalogue it's search is not the best, but it does work,my thanks to one of the guys here on wiki for the url,I would wait a bit as the experts on this site will probably tell you the names and addresses of the troops who operated it,what they had for breakfast and what day their birthdays were on.

Also forgot to mention the Defence of Britain Database mentions a light AA gunsite in the fields next to Carr Lane, interesting thing about that is a piece of land that is unploughed, while surrounded by ploughed fields on Google maps just wondering if that was the spot for the guns.

Addendum, it should read Carr Lane Farm or is it now called Carr Lane nurseries.
