Hi folks does anyone have any photos or stories about the original Woodlands school? It was the first school to be built by the Birkenhead School board in 1895. The library only has an old photo of the gates after the school was demolished. Thanks Jess

Loads of Photos etc here
I went to that school for about 12 months until we moved and can remember hating it with a vengance. My great grandad helped to build it and it was the primary school of my mum and all her brothers and sisters in the 1930's - 1940's
That's great to hear about your gt. grandad, he left his mark on this history of Birkenhead. I walk my dog there several times a day and think it would be nice if there was a plaque or something to rememmber the school as it too is a part of the history of the area as it was the first school to be built by the Birkenhead School Board in 1895. Also some of my distant rellies lived opposit and perhaps when to the school back in the 1930's too. There names were Sherlock, Enon, Water, and Higginson.
I've added some school photos from the 60's to http://www.facebook.com/#!/group.php?gid=22442336698&ref=search. There's one with names, I think that was 1964 would love to hear from anyone in the photos.
Get into Facebook and 'search' for just the eleven figure number.
