It is owned By Charlie Wright and was opened in the mid 80s by Michael Hesseltine.

Charlie can still be seen when you visit the Northend as he's the guy with the union jack flying from his own.

I use to play pool in the club. As far as I know it is closed and will remain closed.

Charlie conceded defeat on his flag after a court case and took it down - but the house is still there.

That club has been shut since the late 90's. It has also been broken into and set on fire which is unusual for that area.crazy

I am not sure if the big warehouse bit on the Ilchester Road side was ever used as a sports centre.

As far as I am aware, it is owned by the council and charley Wright managed it. I would probably make a good UE project.

There have been contractors working in the club building who have secured it. Not sure if they have plans for it or maybe there is a demolition plan. Nothing in the council planning applications.

HI just been reading about the river street social club i lived in seven street and went to school with CHARILE WRIGHT the school was called TOLLY (tollemace road )houseing estate on there now good old days.

My dad also went to Tolly, from 1955 I think..he knows Charlie too.

When charlie was at school no one could catch him on fields day we had to run round (BIDSTON HILL)and back to school in was about 5miles round trip .
