News items seem to have a horrible sense of inevitability about them. The Russian invasion of the English section and stampede of fans getting crushed against barriers didn't even get commented on during the live match. We heard the flares and explosion and that was it. Are the cameras being told not to film it---?
News also seem to be quiet about number and seriousness of injuries---is this being deliberately played down. Some poor souls are going to get killed the way its going.
Horrible reminder of Hillsborough and Heysel again.

Great performances by England and Wales though ....

TV never mention or show anything related to fighting or pitch invasion while the game is on and always pan away. If the ref holds the match up while stupid people are cleared the coverage often moves back to the studio. At least this time it appears that England Fans did not start the fighting.
Seems to be mainly minor injuries with the exception of one English fan who suffered a heart attack after apparently being kicked in the head several times.

True loyal reporting by the Times ....

Quote
In scenes described as a “war zone”, England fans — some of whom had been drinking since breakfast — clashed with Russian hooligans and police, leaving dozens bloodied and injured even before the national team started its opening

I trust the Russians never touched a drop of alcohol!

Football in itself is a clash between two armies, gone are the days when everyone "played the game" it is now win at any cost, cheat, foul use violence, heaven forbid should a team lose, its never the fault of the losers its always down to bad decisions made by the referee's, it's become as corrupt as politics, stopped following years ago, its a pity about the many genuine fans that these clubs are ripping off.

You start getting all excited about the tournament and the games--especially England Wales and then some fat slobs waving Sunderland flags or the like get drunk out their heads and become like sheep following every other drunken fat slob and start lobbing chairs because some other drunken idiot form another country who also cant hold his ale makes some derogatory comment, all hell breaks out... your country,s name gets dragged through the sewers and the then you get kicked out the competition just when you could have done well. ISIS sitting back laughing their suicide vests off thinking we don't need to cause havoc at Euros--the hooligans doing it for us.

Football the beautiful game, Not!! This violence is horrible and from what I've seen and read looks like the Russian and Ukraine hooligans have had this all planned, and they have more to come they say. I'd be worried sick if I knew anybody going these matches.
