I thought it was about time we had a football thread were followers of the beautiful game could air their views on a regular basis all in the same place.

Liverpool are doing very well at the moment and Man Utd should be concerned but i can't help feeling Liverpool are going to blow it at some stage.
Posted By: SoundLad Re: Wiki Football thread - 23rd Mar 2009 11:06pm

Don`t know about saving them but I think he will do ok,starting a fresh season cos he knows what is expected of the players at St James. He just needs to by well next season.

Posted By: Sir_longmong Re: Wiki Football thread - 4th Apr 2009 7:27pm
Iain Dowie took Palace from a championship relegation spot to the premier league in the same season so he cant be that bad, since that he has been the victim of impatience at Coventry, Charlton and QPR.

plus he also coined the word "bouncebackability" what more do you want from the man????????????
Posted By: dave_g Re: Wiki Football thread - 4th Apr 2009 7:33pm
why is owen a mercenary an a greedy get?

Hey It's the fat cockney Grr Mike Ashley who has ruined Newcastle not Shearer. Bringing too many cockneys in who haven't got a clue...stopping sponsorship/advertising deals and basically not giving a flying toss. The biggest waste of space that has ever came to Newcastle is Micheal Owen (what a knob!!!) One good thing to come out Newcastle getting relegated is the fact the fat cockney Sh!te Ashley has lost a fortune. Just remember this..If it wasn't for Duff's own goal then Newcastle would still be up there.
Funny as fcuk banter above though withthat

soz mate but I disagree. if it was us lot (Liverpool) against Chelski I can guaranetee the blue noses would of supported the southern blerts.

I find too many connections between the Toffees and Man Ushited for me ever support anything about the blue noses.

Lets face it, only the Red Of Liverpool can ever bring success to Merseyside!! (please don't give out my address to the blue noses!!)

Anyone else's enjoyment spoilt by those shadows cast across the pitch at Wembley while watching on Tele, definitely put the sun in the wrong place when they built that stadium. I think its a good case to only have night matches played there.
Posted By: SUExx Re: Wiki Football thread - 31st May 2009 7:38am
i agree, although the new wembley is built on the site of the old wembley but it was never that bad before. still perfer the old wembley with its twin towers perhaps they used to block more of the sun out.

That's a very sweeping statement that is not necessarily true! I personally would have been tied as Husband is a Chelsea fan (not nouveau Chelsea, has always been a Chelsea fan) but family are all Reds.

I must admit I did cry but I still believed up until the final whistle. My boys did me proud!! clap
Posted By: Sir_longmong Re: Wiki Football thread - 31st May 2009 3:07pm
The shadows where a bit worse at the old stadium, they ran right down the middle of the pitch. Thought they put quite a bit of cash into trying to predict where the sun might be around cup final day to cut out shadows from the structure.

Didnt work methinks.

Off Wikipedia

[edit] Roof

Detail of the arch The new 6,350 tonne roof covers an area of over 45,000 square metres (11 acres), 4 acres (16,000 m2) of which are movable and rise to 52 m (170 ft) above the pitch.[2] With a span of 317 m (1040 ft), the arch is the longest single span roof structure in the world and is 134 m (440 ft) above the level of the external concourse,[18] and is designed not to cast a shadow on the pitch.[25] Contrary to popular belief, the stadium's roof is not fully retractable, meaning it cannot cover the playing surface in inclement weather

Sad to see, but at least they can pull their socks up and sort themselves out after Christmas. Thing is, who else do you get as manager, Barnes's tactics obviously don't work so maybe he should change his way of doing things and live in the real world.
